Awarding of Doctoral and Master's degrees in 2017

This year, the University awarded doctoral degrees to 30 research students who successfully completed their programs and defended their dissertations as required. The research students come from 15 disciplines: Journalism, Political Science, Southeast Asian Studies, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Archival Studies, Comparative Linguistics, Languages ​​of Vietnamese Ethnic Minorities, Science and Technology Management, Psychology, Religious Studies, Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism, Scientific Socialism, Vietnamese Literature, Literary Theory, and Sociology. Notably, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was the first institution in the country to offer a doctoral program in Science and Technology Management, starting in 2013, and after four years, its first doctoral candidate received their degree in 2017.

The university also awarded Master's degrees to 265 students across 17 disciplines. Notably, the Vietnamese Studies program, offered at the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language since 2015, saw its first graduate with a Master's degree, and remarkably, the graduate was a Chinese national.

Sharing his joy with the new Master's and Doctoral graduates, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) said that he was deeply moved to see the joy and pride in the eyes of the teachers, students, and their families. He acknowledged that the hard work of teaching and learning over many years had been rewarded and deservedly honored in today's solemn ceremony. The success of these students and researchers has contributed to the achievements in the University's research, training, and international integration.

The Rector also hopes that with the knowledge gained and the degree awarded by a leading prestigious university like the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the alumni will have the opportunity to broaden their horizons, develop their abilities, and make new strides in their careers. Along with their contributions to the institution and the country, the alumni and doctoral candidates will help spread the values, messages, and define the unique identity and style of the University within the community and society.
