Expressing gratitude to Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Pham Xuan Hang

The ceremony for presenting the retirement certificate to the professor was attended by the Party Committee, the School's Board of Directors, representatives of the School's Trade Union, representatives of the faculties: Faculty of History, Faculty of Management Science, representatives of the Association of Retired Teachers of Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

From outside the university, the guests included: Dr. Le Ba Trinh (Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Chi Mi (former Standing Committee Member and former Head of the Propaganda Department of the Hanoi City Party Committee, 13th term), Mr. Vu Huy Luat (former Standing Committee Member of the Hanoi City Party Committee and Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee, 13th term), Ms. Nguyen Thi Nha (Head of the Emulation and Commendation Department of Hanoi City), and Ms. Do Thi Xuan Phuong (former Deputy General Director of Vietnam Social Insurance).

Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) presented the retirement certificate to Associate Professor Pham Xuan Hang and expressed his gratitude for the professor's contributions to the development of the University.

Associate Professor, Doctor of Science, Meritorious Teacher Pham Xuan Hang graduated with a degree in Archival and History from Moscow University (Russian Federation) in 1976 and received his PhD in Historiography from Moscow University in 1988. During his 40 years of service, Associate Professor, Doctor of Science, Meritorious Teacher Pham Xuan Hang held many important leadership and management positions such as: Deputy Head of the History Faculty (1978-1995); Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (1995-2001); Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (2001-2006); Head of the Propaganda Department of the Hanoi City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee (2005-2010); Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (2014-2019); Head of the Faculty of Management Science; Head of the Social Management Department, Faculty of Management Science (2010-present).

Expressing gratitude for the contributions of Associate Professor, Doctor, and Meritorious Teacher Pham Xuan Hang to the research and training career of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) stated: Professor Pham Xuan Hang is a prime example of a scientist and administrator who rose from life following the motto "Learn - Inquire - Understand - Act." He has made many contributions to the building and development of the University and is an example for many generations of colleagues and students thanks to his strong spirit and will in work and life. In each position he held, he always had a high level of critical thinking and was always concerned about the development of the University, society, and the country.

Professor Vu Duong Ninh, Chairman of the Association of Retired Faculty Members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, stated: Associate Professor Pham Xuan Hang is a prime example of the university's leadership team – enthusiastic, responsible in his work, and always sincere and affectionate towards staff, colleagues, and students. He is always respected and loved by everyone around him.

Associate Professor Tran Van Hai, representing the Faculty of Management Science, shared: Professor Hang was the first Dean of the Faculty of Management Science from 2002, and he left his mark on many stages of the Faculty's development, especially laying the foundation for the development of the Intellectual Property specialization.

Thanking his colleagues and friends for their affection, Associate Professor, Doctor, and Meritorious Teacher Pham Xuan Hang said: "I am fortunate to have worked and contributed to the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and pursued research and teaching for the past 40 years. The experiences in various positions, the opportunities to meet and learn from many talented people, and the participation in building and developing new academic disciplines within the University... have made me increasingly mature and profound in my thinking and understanding of life. These experiences have given great meaning to my life. Although I have retired according to state regulations, I will continue my research, teaching, and writing to reflect on the past and contribute to the future development of the University."
