Under the direction of the Hanoi City Youth Union and a document from the Vietnam National University, on June 20th, the Youth Volunteer Shock Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a launching ceremony to prepare for the 2017 exam support campaign. This year, the team will support candidates taking the National High School Graduation Exam at the Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted exam site. Working in coordination with the team at this exam site is the Executive Committee of the Trung Hoa Ward Youth Union – Cau Giay District, under the close guidance of relevant officials.
From the afternoon of June 21st, the team sent personnel to the examination site to guide candidates to their assigned rooms and registration numbers. At the same time, the team also traveled to the Trung Hoa Ward Youth Cultural Center to receive supplies for the support effort, including hats, shirts, water, food, fans, etc.
On the morning of the first day of the exam, the team arrived very early to prepare supplies and equipment, as well as to welcome candidates and parents. This year, the exam support team consists of 45 members, including 2 collaborators. The team's work over the three days of the exam includes: guiding candidates and parents to the exam rooms; delivering food and drinks to candidates and parents before and after the exam; guiding parents to parking, preparing water for parents while waiting for candidates; managing traffic during peak hours, welcoming candidates after the exam ends;… At the same time, the team also follows the instructions of the Exam Support Coordination Board from the Trung Hoa Ward Youth Union Executive Committee to handle other arising tasks.
This year's exam support campaign has many advantages. In previous years, the team had to coordinate with many agencies and departments to find and advise on accommodation for parents and candidates from rural areas coming to the city to take the exam, but this year, this task has been reduced to a minimum.
However, the team also faced difficulties as the campuses of high schools in the city were quite small, and all support activities had to take place on the sidewalks. Using their experience, the Youth Volunteer Team assigned people to direct traffic at the exam sites to prevent congestion and ensure that the support for the candidates could proceed smoothly.
Thanh Long, the main person in charge of the exam support activities of the Youth Volunteer Shock Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, said: “Although the support work faced many difficulties, especially at noon and in the afternoon when the heat became intense, the students were all very enthusiastic about this work. No one showed any signs of fatigue or discouragement.” This is perhaps a special point that makes the Youth Volunteer Shock Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities always loved wherever they go. That is, they are always aware of their responsibilities in their work and, no matter how hard or tiring it is, a smile never leaves their faces.
By the end of the third day of the exam (June 24th), the team will conclude its support activities and hold a debriefing meeting for future recruitment seasons.
