This is one of the first projects under the National Science and Technology Program for the period 2016-2020 "Fundamental and Urgent Issues Concerning Ethnic Minorities and Ethnic Policies in Vietnam until 2030" (code CTDT/16-20) of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs, implemented under a contract between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs.

The main members of the project are all experts in the fields of Anthropology, Ethnology, Philosophy and Social Management, History, and Law.

According to the signed contract, the Project Management Board plans to immediately implement many professional activities in 2016, such as: investigation, surveys, seminars, scientific conferences, and publication of related works.

Speaking at the workshop, Professor Nguyen Van Kim highly appreciated the thorough preparation and implementation of the project plan by the Project Steering Committee and expressed his hope that the project would "reach its goal" on schedule and produce valuable practical and academic products, contributing to providing accurate arguments for the reform of ethnic policies in Vietnam.
