Signing of Memorandum of Cooperation with Shanghai Foreign Studies University (China)

At the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) introduced that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. The University currently has 17 faculties, 12 centers and research institutes as well as more than 10,000 students and trainees of all levels and training systems. In 1995, the University established the Department of Chinese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted training from bachelor to doctoral levels in Chinese studies. The University has extensive relations with universities around the world in general and in China in particular. Most recently, on September 13, 2016, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Pham Quang Minh visited and signed a cooperation agreement with Beijing Foreign Studies University. The University wishes to expand its cooperative relations with Shanghai universities in particular and China in general.

Prof. Cao Duc Minh thanked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for their warm welcome and said that Shanghai Foreign Studies University has many things in common with the University in terms of majors and shares the University's internationalization and integration trends. Shanghai Foreign Studies University is ready to welcome students and lecturers of the University to Shanghai to study and research.

Next, the leaders of the two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation. Accordingly, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Shanghai Foreign Studies University will implement a program of exchanging lecturers and students. Lecturers and students of both sides will receive equal opportunities when studying and working at the institutes, faculties and research centers of the two schools. The two schools will give priority to lecturers in the fields of Vietnamese language and Vietnamese studies, Chinese language and Chinese studies to teach and research. This memorandum of cooperation is valid for 5 years from the date of signing.

Shanghai Foreign Studies University, founded in 1949, is a multidisciplinary foreign studies university that trains high-quality talents and is a complex type. Currently, there are more than 1,100 graduate students studying at Shanghai Foreign Studies University, more than 5,900 full-time students, more than 800 college students and more than 1,200 international students.
