VNU-USSH collaborates with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy on school dentistry and Vietnamese language instruction for international students.

On the morning of July 31, 2024, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and a delegation from the university visited and worked with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, to discuss practical cooperation contents starting from the 2024-2025 academic year.
The Vice Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu, along with leaders and experts from the Faculty of Dentistry, welcomed the VNU-USSH delegation and introduced the facilities and equipment of the dental clinic.
Speaking at the meeting, Professor Trinh Dinh Hai, Head of the Faculty of Dentistry, introduced the model, achievements, and international integration activities of the Faculty in recent years, and proposed a direction for consulting and supporting the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the "School Dental Program" for lecturers and students of the University. Accordingly, the program is expected to be held for the first time at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in August 2024, primarily aiming to provide free oral health consultations to over 2,300 new students of the K69 cohort in the new academic year; the program also aims to provide free examinations and treatment for over 80 disabled students studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue - Vice Chairman of the National Medical Council, former Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health), this is a humane activity that connects and spreads the spirit of community service, reflecting the policy and results of the Project on the Development of the Vietnamese Dental and Maxillofacial Sector until 2030-2045 (prevention and treatment) for 20 million students, and elderly people in Vietnam. The "School Dentistry" cooperation program between the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is an activity implementing the Law on Health Care and School Health Work; developing the capacity and prestige of the two training units within Hanoi National University; maximizing the use of facilities and the high professional capacity of the teaching staff; and serving as a practical basis for realizing scientific research in the field of medicine of the university. This is a development plan for the Faculty of Dentistry in particular, and the medical and pharmaceutical fields in general, in the current context.
The leaders of the two schools exchanged views and agreed on cooperation plans for training starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, focusing initially on Vietnamese language and culture for foreigners.
Also within the framework of the working session and cooperation agreement between the two universities, Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu - Vice Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, proposed that the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, cooperate in implementing a program to teach Vietnamese language and culture to Indian postgraduate students in four master's programs at the University starting from the 2024-2025 academic year. Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam - Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, committed to implementing a suitable professional roadmap for approximately 40 Indian students and preparing well for the program to continue cooperating in teaching for students from India in the following years.
Rector Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his joy and sincere gratitude to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy for its humanitarian cooperation projects in the field of school health. Professor Hoang Anh Tuan also affirmed the sustainable cooperation between the two universities in teaching Vietnamese language and culture to Indian students and trainees. The prospects for cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy contribute to creating a valuable and practical interdisciplinary and interconnected development model within the network of member universities of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
