Representing HSE St. Petersburg University were Ms. Natalia Pyatkina - Director of the Center for International Cooperation and Ms. Liana Nagymanova - School Administrator.
During discussions with representatives from the partner university, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expressed his desire to promote cooperation with HSE University in St. Petersburg in various fields of training and research in social sciences and humanities. With his experience in organizing numerous international research projects and scientific conferences, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan also hopes to expand cooperation with HSE University in promoting research on topics of mutual interest.
Rector Hoang Anh Tuan stated: In the future, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and HSE University of St. Petersburg will create more opportunities for students and faculty from both sides to participate in exchange programs and practical internships.

Representing St. Petersburg University, Ms. Natalia Pyatkina, Director of the Center for International Cooperation, expressed her deep gratitude for the warm welcome from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH). She also shared that HSE St. Petersburg currently has three faculties (Public Administration, Political Science, and Sociology) and six research centers, offering diverse training methods based on modern research approaches, from theoretical courses to applied research projects. With three bachelor's programs, five master's programs, and two doctoral programs, the university provides students with knowledge about the economic, social, and political development of Russia and other countries around the world.
Further discussing opportunities for faculty exchange, Ms. Natalia Pyatkina also extended an invitation to faculty members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to participate as visiting lecturers at HSE St. Petersburg. At the same time, both sides proposed an online visiting lecturer option for faculty members facing geographical distance obstacles.
On the same day, Ms. Liana Nagymanova had a discussion and exchange with lecturers and students of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-USSH) on the topic "Getting to know GIS: Application of geographic information system in research".
GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a field of technology that combines objects by collecting, managing, and analyzing data from geographic space, thereby performing map editing, storing map data, and manipulating maps to match objects and phenomena in real space. Many studies indicate that human behavior depends not only on behavioral perceptions but also on their experiences with their living space. Therefore, by combining interview data with spatial data, and conventional statistics with spatial statistics, researchers can gain a better understanding of the relationship between spatial characteristics and the research subject in the social sciences in general and tourism in particular.
The exchange session provided students with an opportunity to access practical knowledge, update themselves on new trends in their field, connect GIS theory with practice, and gain a clearer understanding of how to apply knowledge to real-world work. According to Ms. Liana Nagymanova, the exchange with humanities students was an opportunity to share experiences and passions with the younger generation, while also receiving fresh and creative perspectives from students. This interaction not only narrows the gap between theory and practice but also promotes mutual understanding between generations, contributing to the creation of a dynamic, creative, and sustainable academic community.
