VNU-USSH: Promoting cooperation in training and student exchange with universities in Guangxi Province, China.

On the morning of July 26, 2024, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), along with leaders of the university's units and faculties, held a meeting and working session with Mr. Trinh Dai Vi, Counselor, Embassy of China in Vietnam; Mr. Ho Xuan Lieu, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; and representatives from numerous universities, training institutions, and research centers from Yunnan Province, China.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, highly appreciated the cooperation activities between universities in Guangxi and the university in the past period.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, welcomed representatives from partner universities who visited and worked with the university. Rector Hoang Anh Tuan shared the achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in recent years, proposed and discussed cooperation in training, scientific research, faculty and student exchange, sharing of learning resources, and securing scholarships for students and trainees with partner universities, as well as expanding opportunities for collaborative development.
According to Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University: International cooperation is currently a strong trend for the university, contributing to the goal of becoming an advanced research university in the region and the world. Every year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities welcomes approximately 200 students from Guangxi Province to study and conduct research. Students and trainees from Guangxi, China, study at VNU-USSH in various fields across programs from bachelor's to master's and doctoral degrees, as well as short-term training programs. They are provided with the best possible conditions for learning, healthcare, and cultural exchange with Vietnamese students.
Mr. Ho Xuan Lieu, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, expressed his hope to soon welcome humanities students and lecturers to visit, study, and work in Guangxi.
Mr. Ho Xuan Lieu, Deputy Director of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Education Department, affirmed that the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Education Department highly values ​​educational cooperation with partners in Vietnam. Every year, Guangxi welcomes over 1,700 Vietnamese students, representing the largest proportion of international students. These Vietnamese students receive in-depth training through an advanced vocational education system and are given special support regarding living expenses, accommodation, and job opportunities after graduation.
With the goal of building and developing the brand of universities in Guangxi, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Education Department has successfully organized 78 education forums between China and ASEAN countries. Accordingly, the "Study Abroad in Guangxi" International Education Exhibition, held in Hanoi from July 25th to 29th, 2024, will further promote previously implemented cooperation projects and open up more scholarship opportunities for Vietnamese students in general and humanities students in particular.

Mr. Trinh Dai Vi, Education Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, ​​shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-USSH) has close relationships with educational institutions in Guangxi, China. With over 23,000 Vietnamese students currently studying in China and 1,000 Chinese students studying in Vietnam, promoting educational cooperation will not only strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and China, but also serve as a bridge for cultural exchange between the two countries. As a bridge between the two countries, the Chinese Embassy will support and create favorable conditions for VNU-USSH to connect and expand cooperation with many major universities in China, as well as promote research cooperation between the university and major research institutions there.
 

During the meeting, representatives from both sides exchanged views and found many similarities regarding potential areas of cooperation in training, such as short-term training courses, bachelor's degree programs, student and faculty exchanges, promoting the teaching and research of Chinese studies, and jointly organizing programs and research seminars on Marxist philosophy.
