Do Thanh Nga (Que Vo No. 1 High School, Bac Ninh) was one of the first students to complete the enrollment procedures on the morning of September 9th. Nga won second prize at the provincial level in Geography and her total score in the D subject group was 27 points. Sharing her reasons for choosing to enroll in Psychology at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, she said that she had thoroughly researched the university through online information and from her high school teachers. Particularly fond of social sciences and humanities, Nga convinced her parents to support her choice of Psychology and hoped that the university environment would help her become more dynamic, sociable, and outgoing.

Another candidate who also loves Psychology is Do Pham Anh Thu (Hanoi) - who has an IELTS 6.0 certificate and is eligible for direct admission to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Anh Thu believes that Psychology is a very attractive and promising field in the future, even though it may not be as popular in the media as some other fields. Anh Thu has carefully planned her language studies to obtain an IELTS certificate, aiming for direct admission to her chosen field. This aspiration has received the support of her entire family.

Another outstanding candidate, Pham Luong Anh Tam (Tuyen Quang Specialized High School), shared her determination in her studies to gain direct admission to the Journalism major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. She worked hard to join the national history competition team, winning an honorable mention. Anh Tam's total score for subjects in the D-block combination was 24.25 and in the C-block combination was 27.5. Arriving at the university with excitement and joy, Anh Tam said: “I chose the Journalism major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities since middle school; it was my first and only choice. I did thorough research on the university's traditions, job opportunities in the field, and I am very confident in my choice.”

Ms. Pham Luong Anh Tam and her parents
Ms. Pham Thuy Anh, the parent of Pham Luong Anh Tam, has been supporting her daughter's career aspirations for many years. She proudly shared: "My daughter is very active in extracurricular activities, having participated in MC competitions and clubs at her high school. She scored 8-9 points in each subject of the national high school graduation exam, making her capable of being admitted to many other universities. However, the family strongly supports her dream of pursuing a career in journalism and media, and especially trusts the reputation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi."

This year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities received 1,326 applications for direct admission and priority admission; and 680 applications through other methods (foreign language certificates, SAT, A-level, etc.). Thus, a large number of students used foreign language criteria for admission, approximately 10 times more than last year. Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Rector of the University, commented: "This is a positive sign, even a breakthrough in the quality of student recruitment this year. This shows that students with good academic performance and strong foreign language skills have proactively taken international foreign language exams to enter the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in a legitimate way." It's not uncommon to see students with IELTS scores of 6.5 or 7.5.

Commenting on the current admissions atmosphere at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Vice Rector stated that it is "very positive, with many promising signs that are significantly better than in previous years." This is primarily reflected in the fact that the total number of applications to the University has not decreased, but the number of applications for first-choice preferences has increased. This shows the growing public interest in the University's academic programs, and the increasingly promising position of the Social Sciences and Humanities sector in general, and the University in particular. Furthermore, some undergraduate programs, due to their specific skills and integration requirements, no longer consider applications based on the C subject combination but only on the D subject combination, such as Southeast Asian Studies, Tourism and Travel Service Management, and Hotel Management. This prioritization of the D subject combination ensures the recruitment of the right number and quality of students for those programs, while also allowing for a more rational shift of students with an advantage in the C subject combination to other fields.

The Vice Rector commented that the positive aspects of this year's admissions process are the result of reasonable solutions that the University and VNU have implemented over the years, such as: diversifying admission methods; categorizing students' abilities from the outset based on considering which majors require in-depth theoretical knowledge, which require in-depth foreign language skills, and which require professional skills...

This year, the university organized the enrollment process for eligible candidates through direct admission, priority admission, and other admission methods earlier to help students feel more comfortable, quickly settle into their study plans, and space out the enrollment periods amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. By the end of September 9, 2020, 200 candidates had completed the enrollment procedures and become the first new students of USSH in the 2020 admission season.
