Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, and officers of the unit warmly welcomed the delegation. The two sides discussed issues related to the formation and development of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping operations in general, and Vietnam's contribution to that mission.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the importance, rapid growth and professionalism of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in a short time. The participation of the Vietnam People's Army in the United Nations peacekeeping mission not only contributes positively to the success of defense diplomacy, but also realizes the policy of multilateralization and diversification of Vietnam's foreign relations. By participating in the United Nations peacekeeping activities, Vietnam shows the world that it is an active, proactive and responsible member of the United Nations in the process of international integration.
Through the presentations of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and the discussion that followed, the students had an overview of the United Nations peacekeeping mission, the process of Vietnam participating in peacekeeping activities as well as the prospects of this activity in the future. In particular, the students listened to the sharing and confiding of soldiers who had directly performed missions in the Central African Republic and South Sudan about life away from home.
Major General Hoang Kim Phung and Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh also agreed to continue to strengthen exchange and cooperation activities in the future, linking research with practice to further promote Vietnam's peacekeeping activities in both theory and practice.
The visit and work of the staff and students of the Faculty of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Vietnam - Japan University is an activity to promote research and teaching associated with reality, and is also an opportunity to widely promote the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers - cultural ambassadors wearing military uniforms in the context of international integration.
