With the aim of responding to the nationwide movement for physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh, and to practically achieve accomplishments to celebrate major holidays in 2020, creating an environment for students from all units within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to have the opportunity to interact and thereby develop the movement of practicing sports in general and football in particular, the Opening Ceremony of the 2020 Vietnam National University, Hanoi Student Football Tournament was held on the morning of October 18, 2020, at the PVV Thanh Nam football field.
Comrade Nguyen Hoang Giang - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, presented a commemorative flag to the representative of the referee team.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Hoang Giang - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament - emphasized that the tournament must maintain discipline and a spirit of fair play. Given the ongoing complexities of the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament is organized to create an environment for physical training for students.
The tournament organizers presented commemorative flags to the participating teams.
The tournament will take place over the weekend of October 18, 2020, and the final is scheduled for November 18, 2020, at the Vietnam National University Sports Complex football field.
In the final match of the 2019 Hanoi National University Student Football Tournament, the women's football team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities continued to maintain their championship title with a 2-1 victory in the penalty shootout against the women's football team of the University of Economics, thereby winning the championship.
