Mai Thi Ha Thu - final year student of the Institute of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
I have been a person who has been "blooded" about making money since very early, since my junior high school days, I "started a business" by importing handbags from the factory and reselling them on Facebook groups. When I was in high school, I had "a living" thanks to selling unisex clothes on Instagram. So when I got into university and set foot in Hanoi, the first thing I did was to rush to find a part-time job. For me, working part-time is not only to increase my income but also to expose myself to life, to society and to hone my skills.
As a full-time Journalism student, when entering my third and fourth years, I prioritized jobs related to my major. Luckily, before the final year began, I had the opportunity to work as a collaborator at Thanh Tra Newspaper (under the Government Inspectorate). The time working here was a "golden opportunity" for me to boldly join in and apply the theory I learned in class into practice. There were joys and sorrows, but above all, I learned many valuable lessons and experiences about how to detect problems, how to develop topics, how to exploit information and other professional skills.
For Ha Thu, family is a source of abundant life energy that makes her always want to strive and try harder in life.
Perhaps everyone has their own source of motivation to help us cope with difficulties and challenges. As for me, from high school until today, my family is the abundant source of life energy that makes me always want to strive and try harder in life. I am lucky to live in a warm home with full love from my parents, so I really appreciate the value of family. Seeing my parents getting older over the years, I tell myself that tomorrow must be better than today, I must live well, only then will my parents be happy. Therefore, I do not allow myself to stop until I see my parents' smiles and happiness.
Having been fortunate enough to join the Communist Party of Vietnam while still in school, I am extremely honored and proud that my efforts over the past time have been recognized. Besides, I am deeply aware of my responsibilities and obligations to the community. In my opinion, first of all, the young generation in general and I in particular need to be diligent, creative, have the right purpose and motivation to study. Second, actively practice ethics, manners; a pure, healthy lifestyle, knowing how to fight against manifestations of a mixed, pragmatic lifestyle, far from the traditional cultural and ethical values of the nation. In addition, it is necessary to actively cultivate revolutionary ideals, ethics, and cultural lifestyle to avoid being influenced by hostile, reactionary forces.
Ha Thu was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam, she was aware of her responsibility and obligation to the community.
I think one of my strengths is my optimism. In any situation, no matter how bad it is, I can always see and "cling" to the remaining good things to stand up and move on. So, for me, difficulties and failures are not the end, they are opportunities for me to grow and become stronger, strong enough to stand up and affirm my inner strength.
Before, I was a girl who was always in the dark of self-consciousness about my appearance. I used to hate myself, hate the body that my parents gave me. I always assumed that "I was ugly" and slid into negative emotions that "I will never be beautiful, no matter how well I dress or how elaborately I make up". At that time, participating in a professional modelling career or beauty contests was a distant dream for me. Then one day I realized that if I took away the right to love myself, who could love me?
I am gradually learning to love and take care of myself more. For me, the Miss World Vietnam 2023 contest is an opportunity, a chance for me to freely explore, learn, and compete in a national beauty arena. This is also the first time I have participated in a beauty contest with the desire to overcome my safety boundaries. I hope that I will leave a memorable youthful mark at Miss World 2023, and at the same time spread humanistic inspiration to the community to continue the journey of maintaining and sustainably developing good values.
In contrast to other "thousand-blooded warriors", I registered to participate in Miss World 2023 with the mindset of someone with absolutely no experience, and the only things I brought to the competition were a spirit of learning, a compassionate heart and intelligence. In this final stage, I will try my best to improve my catwalk, performance and foreign language skills, so as not to disappoint all those who care about and support me.
I feel very lucky to be a student of the Institute of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the cradle of formal Journalism. Not only do I study under the guidance of experienced and dedicated teachers and journalists, but I also receive enthusiastic help from my seniors and classmates. Thanks to that, I can find joy in studying and achieve certain achievements.
In the near future, I hope to do my best to achieve the highest results at Miss World Vietnam 2023. At the same time, I will complete my studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and receive a bachelor's degree in June this year. And I will continue to improve my knowledge and professional skills to realize my childhood dream - to become a professional journalist.
