Tourism Student: From a boy with stage fright to the multi-talented leader of the SOL Art Club

Nguyen Van Nam, born in 2001 in Bac Ninh, is a student majoring in Tourism and Travel Services Management, Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. He shared that he chose to major in Event Management because he loves the dynamic and fresh appeal of jobs related to event organization.  
Although teachers and friends expected him to pursue an artistic career, Nam chose his own path. He has been constantly striving to improve himself to prove that his choice was the right one.
The saying “If you are truly talented, you will not be afraid of being unlucky” seems to be reserved for Nam. Not only is he a familiar face in the school and faculty’s art activities, Nam is also known to many people as the president of the SOL Art Club. This is an art club under the Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
With nearly 13 years of establishment and development, SOL operates mainly in the field of theater: singing and dancing. The club has been implementing many outstanding activities from domestic to international, contributing to building and spreading the image of talented and dynamic Humanities students. “I have loved holding a microphone and standing on stage to perform since I was a first grader. I remember in primary school there was Ms. Tuyet, in secondary school there was Ms. Thao - music teachers who motivated me and instilled in me a passion for singing,” Nam recalls.
Although he is not currently pursuing a professional singing career as the girls had advised, he has chosen to pursue a career in event organization and management. This is also a job that is more or less related to artistic and entertainment activities. In addition, this young man also hopes to follow in the footsteps of the girls in the past, to be able to explore and convey the good spiritual values ​​of music to everyone.
Thanks to his enthusiasm and active participation in cultural and artistic activities, Nguyen Van Nam won the Youth for Humanity award in the category "Outstanding Artistic Face" in 2022. Previously, Nam was also honored to receive many awards for his achievements and contributions from the Hanoi City Student Association, the Youth Union - Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Hanoi National University.
In the eyes of teachers, friends and club members, Nam is a thoughtful and responsible student, friend and homeroom teacher. Behind the shining moments on stage is a Nguyen Van Nam who is always diligent and makes constant efforts. In every task assigned to him, he always wants to complete it in the most meticulous and perfect way.
“It is not easy to balance everything. When I first took on the position of SOL manager, I often took on all the work myself. However, after a while, I learned how to share with everyone. Through that, I gained a lot of experience, accumulated more confidence and felt more comfortable working in a group. I am very lucky to always have talented and dedicated friends and companions. The experience of organizing and managing a group from SOL is also an advantage for the major and event organization job that I am pursuing,” Nam shared.   For Nam, SOL is not only a place to learn and express himself. There, “SOL is home”, a place where people are close, close, and can comfortably share and develop together. With the responsibility of being the leader and leader of SOL, Nam is always aware of the values ​​that he needs to contribute to spread beautiful values ​​with SOL.
“As the "big brother" of the SOL family, I always encourage you to shine and burn yourself out everywhere, on every stage. No matter what happens, I just hope you will always keep your love and passion to overcome difficulties, overcome adversity, so that you will never be forgotten and no one will be left behind,” Nam confided.
With what he has done and is doing, he hopes to continue to be an enthusiastic senior, spreading and "passing on" the artistic fire to the next generations of SOL in particular and other students in general. Surely with the above clear goals and directions, in the near future, we will see a more mature image, more meaningful successes from Nguyen Van Nam.

With a Bachelor's degree, students have the opportunity to continue their postgraduate studies to become highly qualified experts in the field of tourism: they can study for a master's degree in Tourism and Travel Services Management at the Faculty of Tourism Studies, or transfer to study for a master's degree in Arts and Culture, a master's degree in Vietnamese Studies, a master's degree in Business Administration, a master's degree in Tourism at foreign universities...
