Choose a major that suits your strengths and passions
Phuc Trang shared that when she learned that she won the Second Prize in the National Excellent Student Competition, she was very hesitant about choosing a major: "Ever since high school, I realized that I had a bit of talent for learning foreign languages. Besides learning English, I love Korean and have a passion for exploring and learning about the culture of Vietnam and other countries around the world."

Trang has thoroughly researched the Korean Studies major at the Oriental Studies department and learned that this major not only focuses on language but students also learn more about the people, history, and culture of Korea. "Currently, in the integration trend, language strength is extremely important, but I think that to go further, one must have in-depth specialized knowledge and understanding of the country and people of each country. Therefore, I decided that the Oriental Studies department of USSH was my first choice, my number 1 wish when applying for university admission," Trang confided.
"The more I study, the more I realize that I have chosen the right major and major that I will stick with not only for four years of university but also for a long time to come. Therefore, I study with passion and determination."

Study hard, play hard
Possessing academic results that many students dream of, and being a prominent face in the Youth Union movements, Phuc Trang shares a very simple secret: Study seriously and with all your might, but also know how to "play", actively participate in extracurricular activities to improve yourself.
In her first year, Trang was quite worried, especially about getting used to a completely new language, Korean. But Trang made a study plan for herself, with very clear deadlines and carried it out by all means, never finding a reason to delay. "And luckily, here, I have very good and dedicated teachers who have supported me, inspired my passion for discovering new knowledge, so the lessons have become very interesting," Trang said.
"The most surprising thing was that in our first year, we met and interacted with many leading Korean corporations and businesses in Vietnam, not only helping students improve their foreign language skills but also providing practical opportunities, internships, attractive jobs as well as valuable scholarships. My principle is to be proactive in learning and grasping so as not to miss any opportunities. Therefore, my Korean improved very quickly, not only from studying in books and textbooks but also from those direct communication opportunities," Trang shared.
Despite being serious and investing time and effort in completing her studies excellently, Cap Trong Phuc Trang still regularly participates in all extracurricular activities of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
Phuc Trang said that students can freely and are given the opportunity to nurture and develop their own interests and passions, because the school has up to 24 clubs from sports, dance, singing, art, MC: "Even in the Oriental Studies department where I am studying, there are many meaningful and interesting clubs and organizations and activities. Therefore, I also participate in the activities of the department, of the subject... It is the moments of burning with passion that make me more and more connected, loving, sympathetic and sharing".
Phuc Trang plays a very professional role in a performance by Korean Studies students at the "Oriental Night" event of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Apply knowledge into practice
In recent days, Cap Trong Phuc Trang has also been known by many USSH students for another role: Owner of a TikTok channel attracting thousands of followers: dailywithkorean.
“Actually, my TikTok channel has only been established for more than 2 months. Before, I also wanted to make products to be able to immediately apply knowledge into practice, helping me to improve my knowledge and skills, and helping people. However, with a rather tight study schedule, moreover, I need to improve my Korean and have a solid understanding before I can start working,” Trang said.
During the process of studying and researching, Phuc Trang learned that many students had difficulties in Korean language exams or Vietnamese workers wanted to study and work in Korea, many people were new to Korea and lacked information. Therefore, Trang really wanted to share her learning methods and review methods to pass the exam, as well as help workers feel less confused when working and living in another country.
By applying the knowledge and skills she has learned to her favorite job of producing short videos about Korean, Phuc Trang finds herself learning many new things, becoming more confident, and building new relationships, especially with friends who also love the Korean language and the country of Korea.
Phuc Trang emphasized: “In my opinion, if you only learn Korean or any foreign language from books, just to “recite the lesson”, you will definitely never be able to confidently use it fluently. Therefore, you need to apply the knowledge you have learned into practice, taking advantage of every opportunity to listen and speak in a foreign language.”
