09 VNU-USSH students receive full scholarships from the Chinese Government in 2023

These valuable scholarships were awarded to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) at the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam on August 3, 2023.

Attending the Ceremony of Awarding Admission Certificates to successful candidates of the Chinese Government Scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year, on the side of the Chinese Embassy, ​​there was the participation of Mr. Hung Ba - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam, Mr. Trinh Dai Vi - Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Vuong Dinh Quan - First Secretary and many representatives of the Embassy;
On the side of the Ministry of Education and Training, there was the participation of Mr. Nguyen Hai Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation;
On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, there was the participation of Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Principal of the school and 09 students out of a total of 33 students, undergraduates, and postgraduates nationwide honored to receive scholarships from the Chinese government.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Hung Ba introduced the achievements of China in recent years as well as the good cooperation in the field of education between the two countries. The Ambassador congratulated and hoped that the Vietnamese students receiving the Chinese Government Scholarship would be a bridge to improve the relationship between Vietnam and China.

Sharing the honor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as the training institution with the largest number of candidates receiving scholarships from the Chinese Government in Vietnam, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is one of the leading training and research centers in the field of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. In addition, the University also has bilateral cooperation relationships with many prestigious universities and educational institutions in China, regularly conducting active and effective professional exchange activities.
Every year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities receives hundreds of Chinese students, trainees, and postgraduates to study and conduct scientific research. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU currently offers 31 undergraduate programs, 44 master's programs, and 31 doctoral programs, many of which attract international students in general and Chinese students in particular, such as: bachelor's programs in Vietnamese Studies, Linguistics, Political Science, International Studies, etc.
At the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong sent her congratulations to 09 students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular and international students in general who have excellently passed many rigorous examination rounds to receive valuable scholarships from the Chinese Government for the 2023-2024 academic year. Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong hopes that they will study well and always spread the image and friendly, warm culture of Vietnamese people in China.

Over the past 10 years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has received nearly 100 scholarships from the Government of the People's Republic of China (through the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam) for staff, lecturers and students. In 2023, 09 outstanding candidates introduced by the university won the Chinese Government Scholarship and were accepted by leading universities in China, such as: Beijing Normal University, Zhongshan University, East China Normal University, Shanghai Foreign Studies University, Heilongjiang University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Commerce, Anhui University, East China University. These students come from majors such as Oriental Studies, Han Nom, Anthropology, and Tourism Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
Student Do Khanh Van - Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Hanoi was honored to receive a full scholarship from the Chinese Government.
Do Khanh Van - Oriental Studies student, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU - one of nine students receiving the scholarship said: "I chose to apply for the International Chinese Education major, to study in depth the language and teaching methods".
The Oriental Studies student also revealed that at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, students learn Chinese and use Chinese to learn about China through its culture, history, economics, politics, etc. From there, Khanh Van was able to cultivate a love for the Chinese language, and with the support of her teachers, Khanh Van successfully applied for a scholarship.
Khanh Van shared: “Receiving a scholarship from the Government of the People’s Republic of China has given me the opportunity to study and research more deeply about the Chinese language, to study and experience the culture of the neighboring country, thereby accumulating many new experiences and new knowledge. This is truly a valuable opportunity for VNU-USSH students.”

Over the years, Vietnam and China have carried out extensive educational cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The Chinese government has trained many talents for Vietnam's peace-building work. During the reform period, the Chinese government has further strengthened educational cooperation between the two countries through student exchanges, teacher-school exchanges, and is willing to share experiences in educational reform with Vietnam, support the development of Chinese language teaching in Vietnam and Vietnamese language teaching in China, and promote academic exchanges between scientific research institutions of the two countries.
Vietnamese students who received scholarships from the Chinese Government, after studying at top universities in China, returned to their home country, making very practical contributions to the development of Vietnam and helping to further foster the closeness and friendly relationship between the two countries.
Chinese Government Scholarshipis conducted annually, granting 69 full scholarships to Vietnamese citizens to study at university and graduate level in China (including 10 scholarships for students majoring in Chinese). The training period of the doctoral program is from 03 to 05 academic years; the master's program is from 02 to 04 academic years; the undergraduate program is from 04 to 05 academic years.
The Chinese government provides free tuition for the study period, accommodation, medical insurance, study materials and monthly scholarships according to the regulations of the Chinese government.
