On March 18th, 2019, USSH and the Center for Global Politics, Free University of Berlin (German Republic) co-held the spring school titled "Southeast Asian and European Concepts on how to manage global problems". Participating in the opening ceremony were Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) and Prof.Dr Klaus Segbers (Director of Center for Global Politics, Free University of Berlin).

This spring school is aimed at discussing recent developments on the global scale, with an emphasis on Southeast Asia and Europe. The modules will address new approaches to global politics, the interplay between domestic and global politics and regional responses to global political and social challenges.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh on behalf of USSH sent his greetings to all of the students of the school. Especially, the presence of foreign students validates USSH's currently pursued strategy of internationalization. The Rector hoped the students would not only participate in lecturers but also spend time visiting historical sites and natural sceneries in Hanoi to understand more about the country and people of Vietnam. The Rector also gave thanks to the Center of Global Politics, DAAD and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Vietnam Office for supporting this project.

On behalf of Free University of Berlin, Prof.Dr Klaus Segbers said, the Center for Global Politics was honored to for the 5th time collaborate with USSH and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Vietnam Office to hold the Global Politics Seasonal School. The participation of students from different countries reflect the interest of youngsters in the current international political developments, and also provide opportunities to compare the perspectives of different countries in handling global issues. Students of each country can accordingly devise potential scenarios and solutions to overcoming today's challenges.

The course lasts from March 18th to March 28th and consists of 8 modules: New approaches to global politics; Power shifts and the complexities of globalization - perspectives from Europe and Southeast Asia; The EU as a regional project; ASEAN as a regional project and Southeast Asia's role in the global system; The role of Europe in the global system; German media and their handling of global problems; Vietnamese media and their handling of global problems; and Simulation game - bringing peace to Fontania.
