This is one of VNU-USSH's activities to strengthen and expand closer cooperation with regional organizations in research and training in the fields of social sciences and humanities.
SEAMEO is a regional intergovernmental organization establish in 1965 among governments of Southeast Asia countries. As an organization that has continued to nurture human capacities and explored the people’s fullest potential, the SEAMEO maintains its work and aspirations for development with people of the region to make lives better in quality and equity in education, preventive health education, culture and tradition, information and communication technology, languages, etc. The organization’s highest policy-making body is SEAMEO Council which comprises 11 Southeast Asian education ministers.
According to Rector of VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities Hoang Anh Tuan, recent activities have proven SPAFA’s great contributions and importance to the fields of culture, heritage, history, archeology, and art of Southeast Asia.
“We are aware of the significance and importance role of our university, as the representative of the Ministry of Education and Training, to have responsibility and professionalism in organizing this event. Therefore, preparations must be thorough. I hope that next two-day official meeting in Vietnam along with side activities such as visiting the National Assembly Building of Vietnam, Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, the Temple of Literature, etc. will leave a good impression on the delegates”, he said.
Following the annual meetings held in many countries, the 2023 meeting of SEAMEO SPAFA organized by VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a forum for leaders and scientists in education, science and culture of Southeast Asian countries to discuss and promote regional cooperation.
