Short-term Training Program for Communication Leaders

On May 9, 2023, the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities signed Decision No. 1507 on promulgating the short-term training program for Media Leaders developed by the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training. Specifically as follows:

1. General information about the training program

- Training program name: Media leader.
- Training subjects:
High school students in Hanoi need to develop basic knowledge about media experience.
- Training unit: Institute of Journalism and Communication Training - University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH).
- Certificate name: Media leader.
- Training duration: 105 hours

2. Training objectives

- Provide basic knowledge and skills in communication along with necessary applications for students' study, research, career guidance and community communication.
- Through experiential activities to inspire creativity and future career orientation.
- Contribute to spreading core values ​​and exploiting the strengths of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Institute of Journalism and Communication.

3. Training time

- Continuous training course for 10 days, 2 sessions per day

4. Total course knowledge

Total credits to be accumulated are 7 credits (105 periods), including:
+ Theoretical content: 2 credits (30 periods)
+ Practice and experience: 5 credits (75 sessions)

5. Type of diploma awarded

- After completing the course and meeting all the requirements of the training course, students will be awarded a certificate.
- Certificate name: Media leader
(English: Skills for Communication Leader)

6. Training program content

Basic knowledge of communication
 
15 lessons Help students form basic concepts of communication in general, the role and application of communication appropriate to age needs.

Images and graphic applications in communication 15 lessons Knowledge and skills in using still/moving images in communication; applications in learning, research and community activities

Video content production 15 lessons Equip yourself with basic knowledge and skills in filming, editing, and applying basic visual effects to produce video clip content.

Event organization 10 lessons Equip students with a highly practical knowledge base on event management and organization processes. Provide the necessary skills to build a professional event organization plan.

Public speaking
 
10 lessons - Equip knowledge, skills and experience in public speaking. Create a basic foundation for students to dare to express their ideas in different forms. Aim for the ability to handle well in many different situations.

Personal image management 5 periods - Understand and analyze the general theoretical framework of brand building and management through communication.
- Research on branding issues in the media environment in Vietnam.

Communication skills in emergency situations 10 lessons - Detect and respond to emergency situations
- Use effective communication methods to deal with emergency situations
- Detect and prevent malicious information

Use social media to find study abroad opportunities and scholarships 5 periods - Popular communication tools and platforms in research and training
- Skills in searching, connecting, sharing and collaborating in communication in the field of education and training

Practice, visit 20 lessons Practice skills and techniques to build communication products.

7. Teaching equipment

- Using a specialized studio system, smart classrooms, modern teaching equipment to meet the learning and teaching needs of the course, combined with large lecture halls/halls of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Practice equipment for students: Multimedia communication equipment (camera, computer, editing table...)

8. Teacher requirements

- Lecturers are experts in the fields of teaching mass communication, public relations, and communication management with a Master's degree or higher.
- Support collaborators are professional personnel working in the field of communications, with profound knowledge and professional skills.

9. Implementation organization

Classes are held directly at the Studio of the Institute of Journalism and Communication. Conditions for receiving a certificate are as follows:
- Students are not allowed to miss more than 20% of the course duration (including practical training);
- Students have full essays or final practice
- The essay or practice results at the end of the course must be 5 points or higher.
