The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is recruiting students for a short-term training course on "Advanced Journalism Writing Skills," with a certificate awarded by the University, commencing in 2011.- Target audience: Reporters and editors at news agencies, newspapers, and media outlets. Graduates or current students from universities and colleges in social sciences and humanities who wish to enhance their journalistic and media skills. - Objectives: By the end of the course, students should have a thorough understanding of basic and advanced journalistic skills, from gathering, processing, and presenting information in the press. They should master the skills to perform several typical journalistic genres such as news, interviews, feature stories, and profile writing. They should also possess skills in interviewing and gathering information. Students should understand the legal regulations of the Vietnamese press to be able to work and handle journalistic situations, and have knowledge of the development of print media and career opportunities in this field. Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired modern journalistic skills and the ability to organize and edit journalistic products at a high level. - The training program will cover the following topics: + Communication and fundamental issues of modern communication + Journalistic topic thinking + Information gathering, processing, and modern news writing skills + Advanced journalistic interviewing skills + Information processing for feature articles and biographical sketches + Article organization: headlines, lead headlines, subheadings, lead paragraphs, data boxes, etc. + Trends in the development of journalistic genres + Advanced editing skills - Duration: 8 weeks - Instructors: Experienced lecturers with professional and systematic training in journalism and communication from advanced countries such as South Korea, the UK, and Russia, from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, and experienced journalists currently working at central and Hanoi newspapers. - Tuition fees: For students from outside the university: 2,700,000 VND; For students and alumni of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (with degrees awarded by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities): 2,200,000 VND. - Application deadline: April 20, 2011
