1. Purpose and scope of the thesis

The research objective of this thesis is to study the theoretical aspects and then evaluate the position, role, and solutions for journalistic activities in communicating the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's tangible cultural values.

2. Research methods used

- Document analysis method: Studying relevant documents, resolutions, and laws of the Party and State, textbooks, books, and research papers in journals to build a theoretical basis for the preservation and promotion of cultural values ​​in general and Hanoi's cultural heritage in particular by the press. Through the study of these documents and materials, the author applies the viewpoints and guidelines of the Party and State, inheriting the results of previous research, contributing to making the dissertation more profound, and at the same time providing a scientific basis for assessing and evaluating research and survey results to find solutions and scientific conclusions for the research topic, thereby affirming the new contributions of the dissertation.

- Questionnaire survey method: The purpose of this method is to gather public opinions and assessments, surveying and evaluating the level of acceptance and evaluation of Hanoi residents regarding the media's role in preserving and promoting Hanoi's tangible cultural heritage. The sample list is compiled based on a statistical list of all residents aged 16 to 75 who are capable of understanding and accepting media, with a complete sample structure including educational level, occupation, gender, ethnicity, marital status, etc., of individuals in each residential area/group/village. The questionnaire used in the information collection process consists of 18 questions for different public groups. The content of the questionnaire focuses on information about public awareness, level of interest, and attitudes towards the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's tangible cultural heritage. Simultaneously, the study assesses the role of various forms of media in conveying information on this issue, thereby leading to changes in public awareness, attitudes, and behavior towards the content of preserving and promoting Hanoi's cultural heritage in the press.

- In-depth interview method: This method was conducted with a number of individuals who have a thorough understanding of the conservation and promotion of Hanoi's cultural and artistic values. Three groups were selected: civil servants, private business owners, retired officials, and neighborhood committee officials, to gather qualitative, fundamental, systematic, and in-depth information on relevant issues. This information was used to assess strengths and weaknesses, identify solutions, and improve the quality of information on the conservation and promotion of Hanoi's cultural and artistic values ​​in the media.

3. Main results and conclusions

3.1. Main results

- The press is the main channel for accessing information on the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's cultural and artistic values. Among these, television remains the most widely accessible form of media to the public.

- Although the press has provided the public with a fairly comprehensive understanding of the issue of preserving and promoting Hanoi's cultural and artistic values, there is still an imbalance between the two groups of content: preservation and promotion of Hanoi's cultural and artistic values. This leads to the public having a more positive attitude towards preservation compared to promotion activities.

- The press has not yet fully met the public's information needs regarding issues related to the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's cultural and artistic values.

3.2. Conclusion

- This dissertation makes a certain contribution and addition to clarifying the theoretical and practical basis for building and developing Hanoi's cultural and artistic heritage in particular, and Vietnamese cultural values ​​in general, in the new context, building the spiritual foundation of society, the goals and driving forces for sustainable national development, and establishing standards of Vietnamese cultural and human values ​​in the era of industrialization, modernization, and international integration.

- The research content of this dissertation serves as reference material for the leadership of Party committees, the direction of the government, and the coordination between departments, agencies, and the press to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of leadership, direction, and coordination in order to preserve and promote the cultural and artistic values ​​of Hanoi.

- The research results also point out the limitations and shortcomings of the press. Based on this, the thesis proposes several solutions to improve the quality of journalistic activities in preserving and promoting the cultural and artistic values ​​of Hanoi, and to build a stronger and more modern press system in our country.

- This dissertation also serves as a reference for learning, research, and teaching for students majoring in journalism, graduate students, doctoral candidates, and anyone interested in this topic.

By studying the documents, the author applies views and guidelines of the Communist party and the State, inherit research results to make the thesis more profound and become a scientific basis for finding out solutions, scientific conclusions for the research topic, thereby to confirm the findings of the thesis.

- Method of questionnaires: Purposes of this method are to collect opinions and opinions of the public, to survey and assess the receipts and opinions of Hanoians about the press in communicating the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's physical culture. The sample list is established based on the list of 16-75-year-old people who have the capacity to perceive and receive the press, with their education, occupation, sex, ethnic group, marital status details, etc. The questionnaire consists of 18 questions for different public groups, points to information on awareness, the level of interest and attitudes of the public to the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's physical culture in the press.

3.Major results and conclusions

3.1.Major results

- The press is the main channel to access information about preservation and promotion of Hanoi's physical culture in the press. Particularly, television is the most popular media form.

- Although the press provides the public with the awareness of the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's physical culture in the press, the imbalance of two groups of preservation and promotion of Hanoi's physical culture in the press still exits. As a result, the preservation is more positive than the promotion.

- The press have not really satisfied information need of the people in connection with the issues related to the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's physical culture.

3.2.Revisions

- The thesis has a certain contribution and supplement to clarify the theoretical and practical bases of construction and development of Hanoi's physical culture in particular and of Vietnam's physical value in general in new conditions, to develop the spiritual foundation of the society, objectives and motivation of sustainable development of the country, building standards for cultural values ​​​​and Vietnamese people in the period of industrialization, modernization and international integration.

- The thesis is a reference for the leadership at levels, the direction of government authorities, the coordination of departments and sectors with the press to innovate and enhance the quality and efficiency of leadership, direction and coordination for the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's physical culture.

- Research results indicate limitations and dangers of the press. Then, the thesis proposes solutions to improve the quality of the press on the preservation and promotion of Hanoi's physical culture, and to establish a growing steady and modern press system of Vietnam.

- The thesis is also a reference for study, research and learning for students of journalism major, postgraduate students, master and doctoral students and those who are interested in the topic.
