1. Purpose and research objects of the thesis

Research purpose:The thesis studies traditional environmental ethics in Vietnam, on that basis, evaluates its value and significance for the development and environmental protection in our country today.

Research subjects:The research object of the thesis is traditional environmental ethics including people's views, attitudes and behaviors towards the natural environment in the tradition of Vietnamese people.

2. Research methods used

- The thesis uses the methods of Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism. In addition, the thesis also uses the methods of analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction, historical-logical, statistical, comparative... on the viewpoint of unifying theory and practice in research.

- To analyze the traditional environmental ethics standards of Vietnamese people, the thesis focuses on and inherits the research of historical documents and survey results of other specialized studies.

3.Main results and conclusions

3.1. Main results

-The thesis systematizes and clarifies some theoretical issues related to instrumental concepts such as: environmental ethics, traditional environmental ethics and some basic standards of traditional Vietnamese environmental ethics.

- The thesis has pointed out and analyzed traditional environmental ethical standards in environmental protection in Vietnam today.

  • The thesis has assessed the value and significance of traditional environmental ethics in meeting the needs of sustainable development and environmental protection in Vietnam today.

In theory:The thesis has contributed to the study of traditional environmental ethics with its basic standards in Vietnam.

In practice: The research results of the thesis can be used as reference material for organizations and individuals in environmental protection in Vietnam today. The thesis can be used as reference material in studying, researching, and teaching about the environment and environmental ethics in Vietnam.

3.2. Conclusion

1. Research on traditional environmental ethics in Vietnam, we can draw important theories and practices for current environmental protection work in Vietnam. That is, in the tradition, Vietnamese people have recognized the role of nature in the existence and development of themselves and the community, this perception is drawn from the long history of the nation. It is in those relationships that ethical standards are formed that are still preserved through material and spiritual life.

2. The traditional environmental ethical standards expressed by the Vietnamese people right through their daily life: love for their homeland and country expressed through images and love for nature. The environmental ethical standards of the ancient Vietnamese people were also expressed through: production labor, daily life and traditional festivals. Research on the relationship between people and nature of the ancient Vietnamese people gives us the meaning of environmental protection in Vietnam today, which is the reasonable exploitation, both exploitation and regeneration and conservation of nature to serve long-term purposes.

3. Researching the traditional environmental ethics of the Vietnamese people in history helps us realize the importance of promoting traditional environmental ethics for environmental protection in Vietnam today, thereby suggesting policies for the Party and State on the issue of economic development associated with environmental protection. Proposing a new direction for environmental protection solutions is to combine traditional factors (village conventions, customary laws) with current Vietnamese laws suitable for each region, in which the law plays a major role in environmental protection, while combining specific factors with general factors to help environmental protection in Vietnam achieve success.

Practically, the results of the thesis can be used as reference materials for organizations and individuals in environmental protection in Vietnam today. The thesis can be used as a reference for study, research and teaching on environment and environmental ethics in Vietnam.

3.2. Conclusion

1. The study of traditional environmental ethics in Vietnam draws on important theories and practices for environmental protection in Vietnam. That is, in the Vietnamese tradition has recognized the role of nature for the survival and development of themselves and the community, this statement drawn in the long history of the nation. It is in these relationships that the formation of moral norms has been preserved through the material and spiritual life.

2. The ethical standards of communication environment are expressed by Vietnamese people through daily life including the love for the country and its nature. The norms in environmental ethics of the ancient Vietnamese were also expressed through: production labor, in daily life and in traditional festivals. Research on the relationship between humans and the ancient Vietnamese has given us lessons in the protection of the environment in Vietnam today, namely, rational exploitation, both exploitation and regeneration to serve for long-term purposes.

3. The study of the traditional environmental ethics of Vietnamese people in history helps us to realize the importance of promoting the traditional environmental ethics for environmental protection in Vietnam today. This suggests the decision making of the Party and State on economic development associated with environmental protection. A new direction for environmental protection is to combine the traditional elements (conventions, customary law with the current Vietnamese law in accordance with each region in which the law plays a key role. In such environmental protection, the combination of factors contributing to the environmental protection in Vietnam has been achieved.
