11. Summary of new results of the thesis:
The thesis systematically and comprehensively studies the relationship between the East Asian context and the Ming Dynasty's invasion of Dai Viet; explains the reasons why the Ming Dynasty chose Vietnam as the target of invasion in the East Asian context at that time. The thesis contributes to the understanding of the foreign policy, plots and ambitions of the Ming Dynasty towards Dai Viet in particular and towards East Asia, pointing out the nature of the war of invasion. The thesis evaluates the impacts and influences of that war of invasion on East Asia in the early 15th century, the reactions of East Asian countries to this event and its long-term effects.
The thesis presents conclusions about the importance of Dai Viet in the politics and economy of East Asia, according to which the expansion policy of the Ming Dynasty to the South was a cause leading to the invasion of the Ming Dynasty in Dai Viet. The Ming Dynasty took advantage of the conflicts in Dai Viet and between Dai Viet and some neighbors as an excuse for the invasion war. The Ming Dynasty expanded the territory of the Ming Dynasty by military means to seize economic and political benefits and plotted to destroy Dai Viet. That created significant changes in politics and military in East Asia, and was the basis for the Ming Dynasty to expand its influence and culture. Some countries were aware of that reality and proactively built policies to prevent it. Although Dai Viet suffered severe economic, political and cultural consequences, it fought strongly to rebuild its long-term independence from 1428.
