2. Objectives of the training program
2.1. General Objectives
The Master's program in Science and Technology Management aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of science and technology management, interdisciplinary social sciences and humanities research-oriented; advanced skills, methods, and research capabilities in modern science and technology management; and enhanced research, innovation, analysis, and problem-solving abilities in science and technology management to serve the training of high-quality, highly skilled, creative, and knowledge-disseminating human resources, contributing to national development, defense, and international integration. Graduates will be able to apply their knowledge and innovative skills to adapt to and meet professional demands, develop, continuously improve their skills, and engage in lifelong learning after graduation.
2.2. Specific Objectives
- Specific Objective 1(O1): The training program provides a system of in-depth knowledge, updated theory and practice in the fields of social sciences and humanities, science and technology policy and management, innovation and digital transformation.
- Specific Objective 2(O2): Training program to develop the capacity to creatively apply management theories and advanced research methods to effectively identify, analyze, and solve practical problems in science and technology management.
- Specific Objective 3(O3): The training program helps learners develop the capabilities of a high-level manager in the field of science and technology management; capable of self-learning to improve knowledge, proactively and creatively applying knowledge and skills to solve practical problems in different work environments.
3. Admission Information
3.1. Admission method:
Admission is based on the regulations of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi).
3.2. Eligibility Criteria
3.2.1 Regarding qualifications
- Applicants must possess a university degree in a relevant field with a GPA of at least "good" or have published scientific papers related to their chosen field of study. If applicants require supplementary courses, these must be completed before applying, and applicants must have one year of experience in the field of study, calculated from the date of their university graduation to the date of application.
- Diplomas issued by foreign educational institutions must undergo recognition procedures in accordance with the current regulations of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
3.2.2 Regarding foreign language proficiency
- Possess foreign language proficiency (in one of the following languages: English, Russian, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean) meeting the requirements of the training program at level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam. Foreign language proficiency can be demonstrated by one of the following diplomas or certificates:
+ A university degree or higher in a foreign language; or a university degree or higher where the program is primarily conducted in a foreign language;
+ A university degree or higher awarded by Vietnam National University, Hanoi, within the last two years, where the program's output meets the requirements of Level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam;
+ A foreign language certificate equivalent to level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam; or an equivalent certificate issued within 2 years from the date of the foreign language exam to the date of registration for the master's program by institutions accepted by the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
- Applicants who are foreign citizens and register for master's programs taught in Vietnamese must have a Vietnamese language proficiency level of 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners, or have graduated from a university (or equivalent qualification or higher) where the training program is taught in Vietnamese; and meet the requirements for a second foreign language as stipulated by the training program (if any).
3.2.3 Other conditions
- Has a clean personal record and is not currently under criminal investigation.
- I am healthy enough to study.
- Meet other requirements of VNU.
3.3. List of suitable industries
- Fields of study within the same field as the training program;
- The field of study is defined in the training program standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training;
- For cases where there are no established training program standards for the corresponding field or group of disciplines, the specialized unit must have a scientific and practical basis, determined by the Scientific and Training Council of the specialized unit and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to identify the discipline with the closest professional foundation to the training program and determine the corresponding supplementary courses (if needed); report to VNU before enrollment and be responsible for this professional evaluation.
3.4 Projected enrollment size
- According to the quota allocated annually by Vietnam National University, Hanoi (expected 30 students/year).
- The detailed admission plan will be implemented in accordance with the Admission Regulations, the annual postgraduate admission guidelines of VNU, and the admission scheme of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities approved by VNU (if any).
PART II: LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM
1. Knowledge Output Standards
PLO 01:Analyzing theoretical and practical issues in the field of science, technology, and innovation management based on knowledge of philosophical worldview and methodology.
PLO 02:A systematic and in-depth analysis of issues in the practical management of science and technology.
PLO 03:Assess the structure and operating mechanisms of the science, technology, and innovation system, as well as related policy systems, in order to propose solutions for improvement.
2. Skill Output Standards
PLO 04:Effectively apply research methods and scientific and technological management tools to serve the practical management of science and technology.
PLO 05:Communicating knowledge and research results to different audiences through spoken and written forms in a clear and understandable manner, meeting the job requirements in the field of science and technology.
PLO 06:Proficiency in a foreign language at a level equivalent to level 4 of the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework used in Vietnam is essential for researching professional documents, writing scientific reports, and presenting and discussing specialized issues.
3. Output standards regarding autonomy and responsibility.
PLO 07:Provide expert assessments in professional or career activities that apply knowledge of management, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
PLO 08:Adapting to different work environments through proactive and continuous learning to improve skills, the ability to work independently and mentor others, and the ability to evaluate and improve work quality based on acquired scientific and technological knowledge and interdisciplinary skills.
4. Job positions that students can take on after graduation.
Graduates with a Master's degree in Research-Oriented Science and Technology Management are capable of:
- Performing management and leadership roles in science and technology organizations.
- Providing advisory services to agencies responsible for formulating Party and State policies on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
- To be involved in developing strategies and programs for science and technology development from the local to the central level.
- Conducting appraisal, evaluation, and review of research topics, projects, and programs at science and technology organizations; and managing science and technology at various organizational levels.
- Providing consulting services in agencies and units within the science and technology system, and socio-economic organizations.
- Conduct research and teaching on science and technology management at science and technology organizations, education and training institutions, etc.
- Providing professional and technical consulting services to businesses on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
5. Opportunities for further learning and professional development after graduation.
After graduation, master's degree holders in Science and Technology Management are capable of directly participating in research and teaching activities; or engaging in practical activities in the field of science and technology; or they can continue their studies at the doctoral level in Science and Technology Management.
