Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad 2024: A celebration for students who love and are passionate about studying and researching philosophy.
Philosophy has long been regarded as a beacon illuminating the path of human knowledge and morality. In the current context, as the world faces numerous challenges regarding ethics, values, and personal lifestyles, philosophy becomes an important tool to help each individual understand their role in society.
Sharing the purpose of the competition, Professor Pham Van Duc (Permanent Vice President of the Philosophy Association), Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized: The Olympic competition is organized to enhance awareness and in-depth understanding of Philosophy, and to train skills in applying theory to practice; to create a useful and practical playground, contributing to creating positive motivation, encouraging and fostering the love and passion for studying and researching Philosophy among students and trainees; to strengthen activities for exchange, sharing, and sharing of learning and research experiences; and at the same time spread the spirit and love of Philosophy in the community.
This year's Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad 2024, with its humanistic and guiding messages, is not only an intellectual playground but also a bridge to help Vietnamese youth build a standard set of values for themselves, aiming for a bright and responsible future. This will be a meaningful and challenging journey, where young people are guided and inspired by experienced and dedicated predecessors.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Doan Van Bau also expressed gratitude to the universities that have partnered with the Philosophy Association, creating conditions for students to participate in the competition with the highest quality; to the experts in the Judging Panel and the Professional Advisory Board; and to Halotimes Group for actively communicating and disseminating information about the competition.
The head of the organizing committee, Professor Pham Van Duc, hopes that after the competition, not only philosophy students but also the younger generation in general will realize that philosophy is not just academic, purely theoretical theory, but is present in all areas of practical life.
\On behalf of the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his honor at being chosen by the Philosophy Association to host the 2024 Philosophy Olympiad. The theme of the 2024 competition is extremely attractive and highly practical: "Philosophy contributes to building a standard value system for Vietnamese youth today," which will certainly be an opportunity for students from 5 participating units to showcase their knowledge and abilities, contributing to spreading a love of philosophy. With the participation of leading philosophy experts in Vietnam, the competition will give young Vietnamese people the opportunity to approach philosophy in a more accessible and profound way.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities currently offers 28 training programs, among which Philosophy is a program with a long tradition and a very important position. We hope that, with the support of the Philosophy Association and scientists, the Philosophy program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as in Vietnam in general, will develop strongly, becoming increasingly closely linked to the practical issues of social life.
Rector Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his hope that the Philosophy Association and training institutions, experts, scientists, and business organizations would join hands to organize more beneficial activities for philosophy students nationwide.
According to the Organizing Committee, the content of the competition will revolve around knowledge of the history of Eastern philosophy, the history of Western philosophy, the history of Marxist-Leninist philosophy, Marxist-Leninist philosophy and its application by the Party and State in practical socio-economic life, especially in moral education, inspiring the aspiration to contribute, and building a system of standard values for Vietnamese youth today.
The Judging Panel of the Competition consists of leading experts in the field of Philosophy in Vietnam, including Professor Dr. Tran Van Phong, former Director of the Institute of Philosophy, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - Head of the Judging Panel.
Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Tai, former Deputy Director of the Political Academy - Ministry of National Defense.
Professor Ho Si Quy, former Director of the Institute of Social Sciences Information, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.

Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad 2024: Showcasing the intellect, courage, and talent of Vietnamese students.
The 2024 Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad attracted five teams from five institutions: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the University of Science, Hue University; the Vietnam Youth Academy; the Academy of Journalism and Communication; and Hanoi Pedagogical University.
Before the live competition on stage, participating teams prepared a video clip no longer than 2 minutes, which was uploaded to the Philosophy Association's social media page, starting at 00:00 on November 1, 2024, and ending at 24:00 on November 8, 2024. The clip with the most likes, shares, and comments received 10 points, the two clips with the second highest number of likes, shares, and comments received 7 points each, and the remaining clips received 5 points each.
In the stage performance section, the competing teams had to go through four very exciting and intense rounds:
Philosophical Greetings, Philosophical Understanding, Philosophical Talent, Philosophical OratoryFrom the opening remarks to the philosophy knowledge test, the competing teams surprised and impressed the judges, advisors, and audience with their profound understanding, strong political acumen, and all-around talent. The laws, categories, and theories of philosophy, often considered academic, dry, abstract, and difficult to apply, were conveyed by the teams through diverse, modern, vibrant, and creative forms reflecting the youthful spirit of Vietnamese students and youth: singing, dancing, modern dance, rap, drama, presentations, and more.
The teams' meticulously prepared and creative performances received much praise and applause from the judges, the expert advisory board, and hundreds of supporters.At the end of the competition, the Judging Panel honored and awarded the First Prize to the team from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; the Second Prizes to the Vietnam Youth Academy and Hanoi Pedagogical University. The University of Science (Hue University) and the Academy of Journalism and Communication shared the Third Prize.

Dr. Trinh Minh Thai (Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council of the Vietnam Youth Academy) presents the Third Prize.The competition organizers also awarded several other prizes to recognize and honor the excellence of the teams in each competition section: The "Talent" prize went to the Vietnam Youth Academy; the "Outstanding Philosophical Greeting" prize went to Hanoi Pedagogical University; the "Outstanding Philosophical Oratory" prize went to the Academy of Journalism and Communication; the "Impressive" prize went to the University of Science, Hue University; and the "Most Enthusiastic Cheering" prize went to Hanoi Pedagogical University.
It can be said that the 2024 Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad is not only an academic competition but also a call to action for Vietnamese youth. As Professor Ho Si Quy (former Director of the Institute of Social Sciences Information - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, and a member of the judging panel) stated: "What you have demonstrated in today's competition shows that the treasure trove of theoretical and practical values of philosophy is still incredibly vast and needs to be further explored, researched, and developed in the context of the rapidly unfolding digital transformation."
With the continuous development of society and the explosion of globalization, the competition emphasizes that philosophy is the foundation that shapes the thinking, ethics, and values of each individual. Through their performances, the five competing teams conveyed a message about the standard values of Vietnamese youth in the new era: Patriotism, Unity, Diligence and Learning, Responsibility, Compassion, and Creativity. These are important values for Vietnamese youth to fulfill their role and mission in the era of Vietnam's progress.
