The Vietnam University of Social Sciences and Humanities provided AI training for librarians at the ICLISSP2025 International Conference.

From August 20-22, 2025, the International Conference on Information Science, Library and Publishing - ICLISSP2025 was held at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Quy Nhon (Gia Lai). The event brought together over 150 delegates, including scientists, policymakers, managers, researchers, and postgraduate students from 11 countries and territories. The Vietnam University of Social Sciences and Humanities provided AI training for librarians at this conference.
The conference was honored to have the participation of many prestigious speakers in the field, such as: Ms. Janine Schmidt, former Director of the Trenholme Library, McGill University (Canada); Ms. Margaret Law, Deputy Director of the University of Alberta Library (Canada); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Hung, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Songphan Choemprayong, Chulalongkorn University (Thailand); Dr. Espéran Padonou, Executive Director of the Vallet Foundation (France), along with many experts from Vietnam and abroad.
Professor Tran Thanh Van, President of the Vietnam Meeting of Scientists Association and Director of the ICISE Center, delivered a speech at the opening session.
With themes revolving around information science, digital libraries, open science, e-publishing, and user services in the digital age, ICLISSP2025 is an interdisciplinary forum for sharing research results, practical experiences, and discussing innovative trends in the field of library and academic publishing. Speaking at the opening session, Professor Tran Thanh Van emphasized the important role and significance of this conference, and expressed his hope for the annual ICLISSP conference to connect international scholars and researchers in the field of library and publishing with experts and researchers in Vietnam, serving as a bridge to put this sector in Vietnam on the world map.
The ICLISSP2025 conference was attended by many prestigious scientists from both Vietnam and abroad.
The conference program included several highlights such as: two thematic seminars on international integration for Vietnamese scientific journals and the application of AI in library work; plenary presentations on the new role of libraries in digital transformation; and six parallel discussion sessions on topics such as digital technology, open educational resources, adaptive leadership, academic communication, and new publishing models.
At the Conference, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, actively participated in various activities: serving as the organizing committee, being the keynote speaker in the plenary session, participating in discussions in thematic sessions, and notably conducting a one-day training course on “AI in Action for Librarians: Tools, Skills and Strategic Applications” for librarians and researchers. This course provided core knowledge and skills to help librarians grasp and apply AI in their work. The content included: trends and challenges of AI in the library field; skills in working with AI and building chatbots; analyzing user needs and developing information resources; processing and digitizing documents and creating media content; along with exploiting open educational resources (OER) and addressing ethical and copyright issues in the digital age.

The conference is an important interdisciplinary academic forum where scientists and experts from Vietnam and abroad can present research results, exchange practical experiences, and discuss new trends and challenges. Through this, feasible solutions can be proposed to build an honest and sustainable academic library and publishing ecosystem worldwide.
ICLISSP2025 is an opportunity for universities, libraries, and publishing houses in Vietnam to access global trends, serving as an important stepping stone to improve the quality of scientific journals, aiming for international standards such as ISI and Scopus.
At the same time, it facilitates opportunities for young researchers, graduate students, and policymakers in the country to seek collaboration, learning, and career development in the fields of library and academic publishing.
