In this ranking, QS WUR 2022 ranks 1,300 out of 1,673 educational institutions in 93 countries and territories. Of these, 145 are participating in the ranking for the first time. The ranking data is taken from 2 million scholar nominations and 450 thousand employer nominations, collecting 130,000 scholar responses and 75,000 global employers, analyzing 96 million citations (in the period 2015-2020) from 14.7 million articles (in the period 2015-2019).
According to the ranking results, for the fourth consecutive time, VNU has been ranked in the 801-1000 group of the best universities in the world. Although it has continuously maintained its position in this group on the ranking, VNU's ranking points have been increasing, leading to a gradual improvement in its absolute ranking. Specifically, in the three previous rankings, VNU was ranked in the 78.5% (2019), 74.9% (2020), 67.5% (2021) group of leading universities. In this ranking, VNU has risen to the 61.6% group of the world's leading universities.

VNU's ranking trend in QS World Rankings
Regarding the ranking criteria, this year, VNU's academic reputation criterion increased significantly, becoming the criterion with the highest score of VNU (16.6 points and an increase of 6.4% compared to QS WUR 2021) and ranked 499th in the world (up 25 places compared to QS WUR 2021). In addition, VNU's employer reputation criterion also increased in points compared to the previous ranking (up 8%). This shows that VNU's scientific reputation and international position are increasing, recognized by many partners.
In the QS WUR 2022 ranking, in addition to the two national universities, VNU-Hanoi and VNU-HCM, Vietnam also has two new educational institutions listed in the rankings: Ton Duc Thang University (ranked in the 1001-1200 group) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (in the 1201+ group).

In Southeast Asia, Singapore has 3 ranked universities, including 2 in the world's Top 15 (National University of Singapore (NUS) ranked 11th and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) ranked 12th), and 01 Singapore Management University (Singapore) in the 511-520 group. Malaysia has 22 ranked universities (up 2 compared to QS WUR 2021), of which University of Malaya (UM) has the best ranking of 65 in the world and has 8 (out of 22) universities in the world's Top 500. Following Malaysia is Thailand with 10 ranked universities (up 2 compared to QS WUR 2021), of which Chulalongkorn University has the best ranking of 215; The Philippines has 4 ranked universities, with the University of the Philippines ranked the best at 399; Indonesia has 16 ranked universities (up 8 from QS WUR 2021), with the University of Indonesia ranked the best at 254.
In the world's top 10, British and American educational institutions are still familiar names in the world university rankings. The US continues to be the country with the world's leading universities, with 5 educational institutions in the Top 10, of which Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has maintained the No. 1 position for the 10th consecutive year, followed by Stanford University (3rd), Harvard University (5th), California Institute of Technology (Caltech - 6th) and University of Chicago (10th). Next is the UK with 4 educational institutions (out of 90) in the world's top 10, of which Oxford University has risen to 2nd place (compared to 5th place in the world in QS WUR 2021), Cambridge University (3rd), Imperial College London (7th), and University College London (UCL) at 8th place.
Recently, VNU continued to be present in the 2021 Asian University Rankings announced by Times Higher Education (THE Asia) on June 2, 2021, ranked in the 251-300 group, ranking first in Vietnam in terms of overall ranking and having the highest score in 4/5 ranking criteria (Teaching, Research, Citations and International Outlook). On April 21, 2021, THE announced the ranking results of THE Impact Rankings 2021 (A ranking that assesses the influence of universities in the world on the community according to the assessment criteria of 17 Sustainable Development Goals), VNU ranked 401-600 in the world and is one of the top 2 educational institutions in Vietnam. In particular, for the criterion of Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, this is the highest ranked goal and VNU has reached the world's top 100 in this goal, when the ranking result is at position 92/966 educational institutions participating in the ranking in this criterion.
Previously, in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021, VNU was in the 801-1000 group in the world. In addition, VNU also reached the 101-150 position for the first time in the QS Top 50 Under 50 Rankings 2021. In terms of rankings by field, VNU currently has 5 fields ranked by QS, namely Computer Science and Information Systems (ranked 601-650 in the world), Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics and Manufacturing (451-500), Mathematics (401-450), Physics and Astronomy (501-550), Business and Management Studies (501-550). In THE Ranking, 3 fields of VNU are ranked including: Computer Science (501-600 world), Physical Sciences (601-800), Engineering & Technology (401-500).
