1st meeting of the 2021 School Self-Assessment Council

On October 12, 2021, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a meeting of the School's Self-Assessment Council to complete the Self-Assessment Report. Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (School Principal), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (School Vice Principal) and council members who are leaders of departments of training units, functional departments and offices; leaders and experts of the Quality Assurance Center.

In his speech at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (School Principal) re-emphasized that quality assurance is of great importance, related to all areas of the School's activities. In the context that the School is implementing the Project to evaluate and improve training programs as well as Decree 81, quality assurance has an impact on reorienting development to improve competitiveness, as well as increase revenue for the School.

Therefore, the self-assessment of quality according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training is an opportunity for the School to recognize the reality of its ongoing activities. Thereby, it continues to determine orientations and adjust short-term, medium-term and long-term goals and plans accordingly, as well as promote strengths and specific resources, and propose specific measures to minimize and overcome existing weaknesses.

On behalf of the Party Committee of the School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Party Committee Secretary) praised the great efforts of the Self-Assessment Council in compiling a report with complete and detailed data, reflecting the results of all aspects of the School's activities. This is even more meaningful when this self-assessment of the School's quality took place under the influence of the Covid-19 epidemic. The Party Committee Secretary hopes to hear practical comments from representatives of units to complete the report.

Next, the Conference listened to a summary of the School's Self-Assessment Report. The report was completed with the participation of 9 different focal groups and was approved by a process of collecting opinions, reviewing and carefully editing from members of the Council Secretariat as well as the Board of Directors. Regarding the content, the report summarizes the results and database of the School's work in the past 5 years, based on 25 standards and 111 criteria covering all areas from mission and vision to training activities, scientific research, student affairs, development cooperation, etc.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Chieu (Deputy Director of the Center for Quality Assurance) presented a summary of the School's Self-Assessment Report.

The report received comments and additions from council members and functional units. The comments focused on the following issues: editing and reviewing the way and style of expression in a comprehensive and coherent manner; adding more evidence of the School's achievements in its fields of operation; reviewing solutions to overcome existing shortcomings such as facilities, system of documents related to accreditation criteria; adding more visual evidence to further illustrate the criteria and standards of the units.

Concluding the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Principal of the School) expressed his thanks for the constructive comments from the audience. The Vice Principal directed the Quality Assurance Center to be the focal point for receiving comments to review and edit the report. At the same time, the School will mobilize a number of experts to contribute additional comments to ensure the professionalism of the report. After that, the report will be reviewed in private for official approval, before being sent to external assessment units.
