
The QS AUR 2022 rankings include 675 higher education institutions in Asia (38 institutions participated in the ranking for the first time in 2022). The ranking results were compiled from feedback from over 130,000 academics and 75,000 employers worldwide, along with an analysis of approximately 96 million citations (2015-2020) from 14.7 million scientific publications (2015-2019) after removing self-citations.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is among the top 21.4% of higher education institutions in Asia.
According to the QS AUR 2022 rankings, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) continues to demonstrate its international standing and academic prestige, ranking in the top 100 for Academic Reputation for the second consecutive year (ranked 98th in QS AUR 2022 – an increase of one place compared to the previous ranking). Furthermore, the improved ranking in three criteria – International Cooperation Network, Number of Exchange Students and Faculty – acknowledges VNU's efforts in promoting international cooperation with foreign higher education institutions through online methods, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic which restricted travel between countries worldwide.
Regarding ranking criteria and weighting, QS AUR 2022 retains the same ranking methodology when evaluating higher education institutions based on 11 indicators:

QS AUR 2021 Ranking Criteria
In the QS AUR 2022 rankings, besides Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi), Vietnam also has 10 other higher education institutions: Ton Duc Thang University at position 142, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) at position 179, Duy Tan University at position 210, Hanoi University of Science and Technology in the 281-290 group, Hue University in the 401-450 group, Can Tho University and Da Nang University in the 501-550 group; Hanoi Pedagogical University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics in the 551-600 group; and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry in the 601-650 group.

Top 5 Vietnamese higher education institutions in the QS Asia Rankings 2022
In this year's QS Asia rankings, Singapore continues to maintain its leading position with two higher education institutions: NUS (National University of Singapore – ranked 1st in Asia; 11th in the world) and NTU (Nanyang Technological University Singapore – ranked 3rd in Asia; 12th in the world). Additionally, within Southeast Asia, Malaysia has the most higher education institutions in the top 50 with 5 institutions, including the University of Malaya, which ranks 8th in Asia. Following Malaysia are Thailand with 23 ranked higher education institutions (including 2 in the top 50), the Philippines with 15 ranked higher education institutions, and Indonesia with 34 ranked higher education institutions.
