The Social Sciences Rankings are compiled from many sub-specialties such as: communication and media studies, political studies and international studies (including development studies), sociology and geography. Compared to the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2021, the Social Sciences Rankings have 870 (an increase of 79 compared to the 2020 ranking). Of which, Vietnam has 3 educational institutions ranked for the first time in this field: Ton Duc Thang University, VNU, and VNU-HCM.
Thus, Times Higher Education announced the ranking results of 10/11 fields, of which VNU has 4 fields ranked:
- Physical Sciences ranked 601 – 800 in the world,
- Engineering ranked 601 – 800 in the world,
- Computer Sciences ranked 601 – 800 in the world,
- Social Sciences ranked 501 - 600 in the world.
THE World University Rankings by Subject is a ranking of universities by subject and training group in 11 fields. The results of this ranking are evaluated based on 5 groups of criteria including indicators: Citation, Industry Income, International Outlook, Research and Teaching. THE used data sources from surveys (conducted by THE), Scopus database (belonging to Elsevier Publishing House) and data provided by higher education institutions to perform the ranking, but the weights are adjusted to suit each field.
