Draft Master's Program in Public Management and Global Management: Meeting the Needs of Modern Management

This was the topic discussed at the seminar on "Developing a Master's Program in Public Management and Global Management," organized by the Faculty of Political Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, on the afternoon of March 22, 2024.
The seminar attracted nearly 30 scientists and experts from various departments/divisions of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, such as the Department of Political Science, the Department of Management Science, and the Training Department; as well as management agencies and academies (Committee for Ethnic Minorities, National Academy of Public Administration, Central Propaganda Department, Institute of Political Science, Institute of Leadership and Public Policy).

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Chieu - Head of the Department of Political Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the research-oriented Master's program in Public and International Administration was included in the Vietnam National University, Hanoi's 2021-2025 plan for majors and specializations, and was developed by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with the general goal of training high-quality human resources at the Master's level, possessing in-depth, broad, advanced, and internationally integrated practical and theoretical knowledge, and mastering the systems, content, processes, and methods in the field of public and international administration. Upon graduation, students are equipped with modern management skills, a management culture, and ethical standards that meet the requirements of national administrative reform and the building of a socialist rule of law state in Vietnam. They contribute to building a modern, effective, and efficient national governance system and achieving the goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, and a democratic, just, and civilized society.
Graduates with a Master's degree in Public Management and Global Management are capable of undertaking management, research, and teaching roles related to public management and global management.

Associate Professor Bui Thanh Nam - Vice Chairman of the University Council, Head of the Training Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, stated that the Master's Program in Public Management and Global Management has the advantage of being developed by the Faculty of Political Science in collaboration with Pondicherry University (India) and receiving professional support from several professors such as: Professor Detlef Briesen - Gisen University, Germany; Professor NKKumaresan Raja - Pondicherry University, India, etc. This is a favorable factor in attracting students to participate. This training program also contributes to diversifying the training programs of VNU-USSH, therefore the university leadership fully supports the opening of this new training program.     At the seminar, scientists and administrators discussed and finalized the training program framework and learning outcomes to meet the needs of learners and society for this field of study.
The draft Master's Program in Public Management and Global Management will continue to be refined by scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, before being put into operation for student recruitment.
