The counseling session was attended by Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Party Secretary and Rector of the University), lecturers and staff from the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, the Departments of International Studies, Psychology, and History, and a large number of students currently studying at the university.
The event on March 17, 2024, organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), the General Department of Vocational Education (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, with the support of Vingroup, attracted the attention of more than 100 universities and colleges with 280 consultation booths – the largest scale ever.
At the main stage of the University of Technology's Admissions Counseling Day, Professor Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the VNU Testing Center, the unit organizing the aptitude test, clearly explained and provided information that parents and students need to be aware of regarding the exams to be held in 2024, the exam structure, and the testing methods. Accordingly, this year, the results of the VNU aptitude test will be the basis for students to apply to more than 70 universities and colleges in Hanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide.

Professor Nguyen Tien Thao shared this at the 2024 Admissions and Career Guidance Fair at the Polytechnic University.
In response to the concerns and discussions of numerous students and parents, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) shared that, fundamentally, the university will maintain the same admission method as in 2023, but the enrollment quota will increase by 15%, thus increasing opportunities for more students to enter their preferred majors. Besides the 27 existing majors, the university plans to enroll students in a new major in 2024: Film and Popular Arts, to meet the demand for human resources in this field. Rector Hoang Anh Tuan also advised students to closely follow and update information on the University's official communication channels (website, fanpage), promptly grasping the latest information on the admission plan, introduction of majors, quotas, specific exam blocks for each major, early admission rounds, and special admissions according to the regulations of VNU Hanoi, in order to make the most effective decisions and maximize their chances of being admitted to their preferred major.

At the VNU-USSH consultation booth, starting at 6:30 AM, many students had already gathered to learn about the university's academic programs and admission procedures. In particular, the sight of the calligraphers from the Faculty of Humanities, dressed in traditional silk robes and turbans, showcasing their graceful and skillful calligraphy, attracted the attention of many students and parents.

From early morning until nearly noon, the area around the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is always crowded with candidates waiting in line for advice.
Xuan Mai, a student in class 12B at Chuong My B High School, excitedly shared:
My classmates and I arrived very early. The first school we visited was the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. I really love and want to learn more about the Linguistics and Literature majors at the university. Unexpectedly, here we not only had many questions answered about the admission process and which majors might suit our abilities and interests, but we also received some very meaningful calligraphy. Even though they are only students, the senior students at the university wrote beautifully and explained the meaning of the characters in detail – I really admire them. After hearing the specific advice about the majors, we feel more confident and will try our best to achieve our aspirations."
Xuan Mai was very happy to receive such a meaningful gift from the school.
Mai Huynh Man Nghi (a student from Hoang Cau High School, Hanoi) listened attentively as the professors and senior students from the History Department shared information about this major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. “I’ve long loved history and have researched the university. Today, with the enthusiastic advice from the professors and senior students, I find the program and learning environment very suitable for me. I’m even more determined to try my best to get accepted in the upcoming university entrance exam. I hope to achieve my dream and become a student at the university I’ve long admired.”
Mẫn Nghi shared: "I am extremely moved and happy to have my picture taken with the Principal, who is also a former student of the History Department."
From Tran Phu Specialized High School in Hai Phong, Khoa Huu (a 12th-grade student) had to wake up at 4 am to catch a bus to arrive at the University of Technology and meet with the professors and students of the Faculty of Humanities early in the morning because of his particular interest in the Psychology major at the university. “I met the professors and students from my school at the counseling session at the Vietnam Maritime University, but I'm still here today to meet them again and to get more specific advice about the major I love so much,” the young man from Hai Phong excitedly shared.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Dap (lecturer in the International Studies Department): “This year, the number of students participating in the Job Fair has increased significantly compared to last year. Many parents and students had already researched the majors they were interested in through the university's media channels and newspapers, so the consultation process was faster and more effective. Besides the academic program, which was the main concern, parents and students wanted detailed information about tuition fees, scholarships, internship opportunities, practical experience, and job prospects after graduation. It's very encouraging that this year, high school students are not only focusing on the university's "hot" majors, but many are also showing a strong interest in and desire to learn more about basic science fields, especially students from specialized high schools in Hanoi and some neighboring provinces.”
“The school's leadership and admissions department have closely grasped the concerns of candidates and parents through previous years' admissions counseling seasons, so they have added a large number of staff to provide timely and in-depth advice on the school's academic programs to a large number of candidates and parents,” Dr. Nguyen Van Dap further shared.
Parents were delighted and reassured when VNU-USSH lecturers shared information about internship opportunities at domestic organizations and businesses, as well as study abroad programs for International Studies and other majors at the University.
