(DBND) On March 24, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi organized the 2024 Job Fair - Connecting Employers. The program had the participation of nearly 60 employers, bringing nearly 1,300 job opportunities in many fields.
Create a playground and dynamic environment for students
Sharing at the program, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, shared that when mentioning the principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, many people will think that this is a place with a very high academic and classic nature.

According to Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, in 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will celebrate its 80th anniversary, starting from October 10, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh signed the Decree to establish the Faculty of Letters - one of five departments of the Vietnam National University, the predecessor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In 1995, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was officially established, becoming an independent unit within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
“The 80-year journey of tradition has fostered a very high academic quality, becoming the brand of the school. However, if we just say that, it is not enough. Because in the journey of the past few decades, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has still ensured the academic quality, but has never neglected or strayed from the integration factor so that students and trainees in all training systems when graduating not only have in-depth knowledge, but also have interdisciplinary knowledge, interdisciplinary methods and especially have very diverse skill systems”, said Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan.
He affirmed that classical academia is still the school's unchanging brand. The basic scientific quality and research orientation remain unchanged and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to invest in this orientation.
However, society is changing in a very dynamic direction; the job market requires many factors. Therefore, creating more dynamic, more connected playgrounds and work environments that are closer to students' employment trends is one of the requirements that universities - including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - are aware of, must commit to and implement.

“The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has a slogan of “respecting the past”. We still think of classical, academic, and specialized academic factors, but we must “hold the future”. That is the trend that the school’s students must accept and prepare for. The school’s responsibility is to create the best environment and space for students to do this,” said Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan.
According to him, when the University of Social Sciences and Humanities first organized a Job Fair in 2023, more than 1,000 job positions were recruited on the spot. Many students graduating in the summer of 2023 found their way to the school's partners and became official staff. This affirms the very effective connection between the school and its partners.
Adjust training programs to suit reality
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan also said that one of the great policies of Hanoi National University is to give autonomy in adjusting and directing training programs to the direct training units.
Grasping this point of view, every year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities makes the most of the 20% space in the training program to adjust subjects that are no longer suitable in terms of both expertise and orientation, and to "resolutely" remove them from the training program.
“This means that teachers and those who do teaching work must be more committed and students also have a very high voice in quality assessment and program evaluation. We listen to everything, from the perspective of students, employers, and partners to make adjustments.
The program must ensure the professional quality criteria set by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Hanoi National University and the school's expectations; but at the same time, it must also realistically aim at the students' careers," affirmed Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan.
The 2024 Job Fair of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has the participation of nearly 60 employers, bringing nearly 1,300 job opportunities in many fields.
He emphasized that the training program of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities still has very specialized and academic orientations for students to orient themselves towards research, but also has basic content, building qualities so that students can start a business and establish a career if they have the need.
Adjusting the training program is one of the decisive and vital factors that the school pays special attention to and strongly adjusts every year.
Startup for students in social sciences and humanities
At the 2024 Job Fair - Employer Connection of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Pham Thanh Hung (Shark Hung), member of the Board of Directors of many large companies and corporations such as: Cen Group, HT Square (Hacoocha), Ibiero, Hong Thai, Haval Thanh An,... shared about the topic of entrepreneurship for students majoring in Social Sciences and Humanities.

Mr. Pham Thanh Hung believes that in any profession, as long as society needs it, we can absolutely start a business. "Society" here can be each individual, community, even at the Government and national level.
“Therefore, don’t think that our field of study is academic or theoretical and that we cannot start a business. Many entrepreneurs in the world also start a business in the field we study. For example, in the field of journalism, the “tycoons” of media and journalism are all extremely successful entrepreneurs,” said Mr. Pham Thanh Hung.
This businessman also emphasized that services related to journalism, radio and television are very necessary social services, especially for businesses, government agencies and the community. He recognized that the fewer people study a field, the more specific it is, the less competition there is, which means those pursuing that field have an advantage.
“Don’t worry about the difficulty of starting a business, because if we start a business in such a specific field, we clearly have a lot of opportunities,” said Mr. Pham Thanh Hung.
Also at the program, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized a talk show "Job transformation - Opportunities and challenges for employees and businesses", with the participation of 5 speakers who are recruiters in many fields.
