In the emotional atmosphere of the Graduation Ceremony, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan, on behalf of the Party Committee and the School Board, extended warm congratulations to nearly 1300 graduating students who officially received their prestigious Bachelor's degrees, marking a challenging but also very interesting and memorable academic journey.
“You have every right to be PROUD of this achievement because you have earned a prestigious Bachelor's degree from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi – a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities nationwide. In 2023, the social sciences field of Vietnam National University, Hanoi was ranked 501-600 in the world by Times Higher Education, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is proud of its significant contributions to these rankings. By 2024, 100% of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities' undergraduate programs will have received accreditation from the Ministry of Education and Training, with many programs achieving accreditation from prestigious international organizations (AUN-QA). And with the in-depth professional knowledge, proficient skills, and strong character you have cultivated over the past four years, I believe you are completely CONFIDENT to establish yourselves and achieve many successes in the future.”

Professor Hoang Anh Tuan congratulates the new graduates of VNU-USSH.
The QX-2020-X cohort is a special one, as they entered the university right when Covid-19 was at its peak, when all social activities seemed to come to a standstill; classes started online, long days were spent only meeting teachers and friends through computer screens, and countless difficulties and risks in life. But they overcame it spectacularly: of the nearly 1,300 students receiving their degrees this time, about 50% achieved excellent or good academic results; in addition, many students received their diplomas early, completing their studies in just over 3 years (four times more than in 2023), and most of them found jobs even before graduation. And the sweet fruits of their labor today have contributed significantly to that overall success, helping to affirm the brand and position of Hanoi University of Humanities in the Vietnamese higher education system, reaching regional and international levels.
Traditionally, training units usually hold a Bachelor's degree awarding ceremony once a year. However, in recent years, to best facilitate students receiving their Bachelor's degrees as soon as possible upon completion of their studies, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has organized graduation and degree awarding ceremonies at least three times a year. Each ceremony can last 1-2 days so that all students can be honored on stage and receive their prestigious degrees from the university and faculty. And especially, parents and loved ones can accompany the new graduates during this solemn moment, witnessing their growth and the results of their efforts after nearly four years of hard work.
On behalf of the School's Board of Directors, Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong extended congratulations and expressed deep gratitude to the silent and dedicated contributions of the faculty leaders, teaching staff, and functional unit personnel; and to the selfless sacrifices and care of the esteemed parents for their children.
“In this auditorium today, we know that there are parents from very distant rural areas, traveling nearly a thousand kilometers to Hanoi, setting aside their busy work schedules and life worries; there are grandparents of advanced age, with white hair, who have gathered here to witness and celebrate the academic achievements of their children and grandchildren. This trust and affection will be the driving force that motivates our management team and faculty to continuously strive to improve the quality of our training and student care.”
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong expressed: The university always welcomes all students back in new roles: continuing to acquire top-level knowledge in higher education or accompanying and guiding students in subsequent cohorts.
Also at the graduation ceremony, the School's Board of Directors presented certificates of merit to 27 valedictorians from 27 training programs and to students with outstanding academic results throughout their entire course of study.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan and Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong presented Certificates of Merit to the top-performing students of 27 majors and offered flowers to express gratitude to the parents.
Hanoi University of Humanities – the place where I entrust all my love and faith.
Those were the touching words of the valedictorians as they represented all the students in their graduation speeches.
Nguyen Thanh Duong (a student from the Faculty of Tourism Studies) still remembers the first time in her life she attended an online opening ceremony: “A course with many ups and downs and social changes, as the QH – 2020 - X cohort of students was directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, we had the opportunity to meet and reunite twice at Hola.
Looking back now, you and your friends will surely realize how quickly time has flown by. Even the summer that seemed the longest of 2020 has passed. It feels like just yesterday, when I was registering for university entrance exams, I held in my hand a registration form with only three choices, all located here – 336 Nguyen Trai, the place I chose to entrust my youth to in Thanh Xuan.
"And I am so proud that at this very school, in just under four years, I have had the opportunity to travel to 56 provinces and cities across Vietnam and to go abroad twice as a representative of the Tourism Studies students. Many more wonderful experiences will stay with me throughout my future journey. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities that the school, my teachers, and my friends have given me."

For Nguyen Thi Thuy Hien, a journalism student at the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, a girl from the sunny and windy central region of Quang Nam, the in-depth knowledge, the love of her teachers, and the close bond and solidarity from her friends are the pride she wants to share with everyone when talking about Hanoi University of Humanities. “I remember the days when I, a first-year student, was just starting out in scientific research. There was a teacher who was always ready to guide me, diligently showing me how to gather information, find materials, create outlines, and write… And now I’m about to become his alumnus. The Thuy Hien of today, the prestigious degrees earned through the efforts of all the new graduates, are largely thanks to the talent, dedication, and vision of the teachers, the school leadership, and the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training where I studied.”
Back home, people still ask: Is studying in Hanoi difficult? Is living in Hanoi difficult? Yes, it is difficult. Not everyone can hear my accent, and studying isn't always smooth sailing. Sometimes I feel pressured but don't dare tell my parents. And there are days when the rain in Hanoi, the biting cold in the North, makes me miss home, my parents, my relatives, my friends… terribly. But all of that is over now, carried away by the gentle breath of time.
With the support of the University, teachers, and the strong backing of our families, parents, and relatives, along with the knowledge and resilience honed at the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, although many challenges lie ahead, we will continue to move forward towards the sunshine and will shine brightly in our own ways.”
On behalf of all the new graduates, Nguyen Thi Thuy Hien presented Associate Professor Dang Thi Thu Huong with a beautiful bouquet of flowers as a token of deep gratitude to the University and the teachers.
Congratulations and honor to all the new graduates of VNU-USSH. Your achievements today are the sweet fruit and well-deserved reward for your tireless efforts, and also a priceless gift to your teachers and parents who have always been there to support and guide you.
The emotional moments of the graduation ceremony have come to an end, but the love and promise to return remain: "I will definitely pursue my master's degree at this very university," said Nguyen Thi Thuy Hien, because of the love the students have wholeheartedly dedicated to Hanoi University of Humanities.
