On the morning of July 10, 2024, hundreds of students who passed the entrance exam to the 10th grade at the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, along with their parents, were present at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to complete the enrollment procedures.
Participating in welcoming parents and students were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities), teachers, staff from functional departments, and a large number of volunteer students.
The school has allocated two registration rooms for students in the Literature specialization class, one for the History specialization class, and one for the Geography specialization class. The process of checking and receiving applications was conducted scientifically, quickly, and accurately.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, this year's entrance exam for the 10th grade at the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities has 1,509 registered candidates. Of these, the Literature specialization class has the highest number of registered candidates with 928. The History and Geography specialization classes have 314 and 267 registered candidates respectively. The school is recruiting 140 students, with 70 for Literature, 35 for History, and 35 for Geography.
A new feature in the 2024 10th grade entrance exam compared to previous years is that candidates will only take a 150-minute essay exam in their specialized subject. For the qualifying subjects, the school will review applications based on the average semester grades in Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong extends congratulations to all students who have successfully passed the entrance exam to grade 10, and thanks the parents for their trust and for choosing to send their children to study at the High School for Gifted Students. With the mission of discovering, nurturing, and creating a source of talent in social sciences and humanities for the country, the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities is a pioneer in educating and training excellent students in the field of social sciences and humanities; combining in-depth knowledge education with enhanced foreign language and information technology skills for comprehensive development, independence for growth, dynamism and creativity, confidence and compassion, adaptability for development, and setting the most suitable goals for the future.

Filled with joy and excitement, Nguyen Nhat Ha's parents (a 10th-grade student specializing in Literature) shared: “Since 7th grade, my daughter has researched and dreamed of one day becoming a Literature student at the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities, and she made this her only choice in the recent 10th-grade entrance exam. My family fully supports and facilitates her dream. Although the school is newly established, it has quickly affirmed its brand nationwide. Therefore, my family is extremely happy and delighted that she received the acceptance letter from the school. Today, accompanying her to enrollment, we received a warm and thoughtful welcome from the school's administration, and the friendliness and affection of the teachers and volunteer students. I believe that my daughter will have a joyful and successful time studying at the school of her dreams.”

Here, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Principal of the Specialized High School), on behalf of the school's Board of Directors, gave an overview of the school's history, objectives, training programs, and outstanding activities. Professor Nguyen Quang Lieu proudly shared: "As a relatively young specialized high school compared to others nationwide, the Specialized High School has achieved resounding success in training and nurturing gifted students. Most of our students have been admitted to top universities in Vietnam or received prestigious scholarships to study abroad. In addition, many of our students have won high awards in scientific research, innovation, arts, and sports. This demonstrates our philosophy of seamlessly combining in-depth and comprehensive education."
Specifically, with the "talent nurturing from high school" policy of Hanoi National University, all students from grade 11 onwards will be able to pre-register for some university-level credits at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as other universities under Hanoi National University. With this policy, students not only get to experience the university learning environment, learn about their favorite fields of study, and better orient their careers, but also shorten their university studies, saving time and money.
