Friday - October 24, 2025 04:06
The performance program will be presented by Japanese artists right on the campus of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi on October 23, 2025.
As part of the series of activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Department of Oriental Studies (1995-2025), the Japanese Calligraphy Art Performance program, presented by artist Miyata Tenpuh - the founder of the Bokuan Calligraphy class system - and his colleagues, took place in a solemn and emotional atmosphere.
To begin the program, the four artists performed calligraphy on four small sheets of paper, each containing a line from "Sakura, sakura"—a familiar Japanese children's song.
"Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms, from far away to deep in the mountains, to within the village,
Is that fog or clouds? They gleam in the morning sunlight.
Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms, are in full bloom…”
Artist Miyata Tenpuh performs Japanese calligraphy art.
The highlight of the program was when artist Miyata Tenpuh created a calligraphy piece on a large sheet of paper, offering congratulations to the Department of Oriental Studies on its 30th anniversary, accompanied by the character 「和」 (Wa) - symbolizing harmony, understanding, and connection - values that the Department of Oriental Studies has always strived for throughout its three decades.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to artist Miyata Tenpuh for bringing us an inspiring afternoon of art. Thank you to the faculty and students who contributed to creating truly memorable moments within the familiar Humanities environment.
