It is necessary to develop training programs in the context of the country's new development.Nearly four decades after the Doi Moi (Renovation) reforms (1986), Vietnam has made significant strides in its development. The impressive achievements of the Doi Moi reforms are closely linked to the remarkable progress in national governance. In particular, to continue developing the country, a highly skilled and innovative management team is essential.
The 13th National Congress of the Party put forward many new viewpoints on management in general and in various fields of social life in particular. Implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, from the beginning of its term, the 14th Government has set the issue of building a constructive government. To achieve the goals and tasks in the coming years and to effectively promote the role of the State, the Congress affirmed the need to continue "innovating national governance towards modernization, especially development management and social management."
Therefore, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities' implementation of a Master's program in Public Management and Global Management is extremely necessary. On the one hand, it directly contributes to training high-quality management human resources, and on the other hand, it demonstrates national responsibility in contributing to the building of a socialist rule of law state.
The curriculum content meets the practical needs of organizations and businesses. The Master's program in Public Administration and Global Management provides human resources with in-depth knowledge and skills to participate in the operation of the state apparatus, the public administration system, and international organizations.
Integrating the advantages of both public administration and global management has been the choice in many advanced countries for training human resources to work in both national and global governance systems. This is because they will be more successful when they combine the professional thinking and skills of general management at home with the requirements and standards of current global governance systems.
Some outstanding modules in the Master's program in Public Management and Global Management
The political science approach – a distinctive feature of the curriculum.Currently, many universities in developed countries offer postgraduate programs related to public administration and global management. Examples include the Kennedy School (Harvard University, USA); Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand); Oxford University (UK); Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State University (USA); and Antwerp School of Management (Belgium).
However, in Vietnam, only a few training institutions currently offer master's programs in public management, and none have yet introduced a master's program that integrates public management with global management. Furthermore, existing related programs in Vietnam primarily approach public management from the perspective of economics and law, neglecting the interdisciplinary approach of public management and global management through the lens of political science. Therefore, the Public Management and Global Management program, directly organized by the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, reflects a philosophy that creates a competitive advantage, differentiation, and a clear political science approach to public and global management. This is a unique feature of the program, providing learners with comprehensive, interdisciplinary knowledge and skills, especially for those currently pursuing or planning to pursue careers in leadership and management in the public sector in Vietnam.
