The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) is one of six Vietnamese universities participating in this conference. Representing the Ministry of Education and Training was Mr. Dang Van Huan, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education. Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities at the conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Hung, Head of the Faculty of Information and Library Science.
During the discussion session, Associate Professor Bui Thanh Nam affirmed that VNU-USSH is committed to collaborating with the DS2S network to promote digital capabilities, innovate teaching and learning methods, and strengthen university-business cooperation, thereby preparing human resources to adapt to the future labor market.
The Vietnamese delegation attended the DS2S Leipzig Conference (Germany).
The opening day featured a panel discussion titled “Future Ready Talent,” with industry leaders from HP, IBM, and CISCO discussing the co-design of training programs to meet market needs and the signing of strategic cooperation agreements. This was followed by a session on “Microcredentials for Labour Market, Education and Training in a Digital World,” with a presentation by an OECD expert emphasizing lifelong learning as a tool to bridge the skills gap.
The second day of the program focused on the university-business collaboration model with a keynote presentation on "The German Innovation System" and a series of "Success in Action" projects showcasing practical examples; alongside this were parallel seminars on hackathons, service-learning, and Living Labs as co-creation spaces between universities and businesses.

The highlight of the final day, themed “Innovative Teaching and Learning,” was the presentation by Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung, representing VNU-USSH, on the topic “Innovation in Applying AI into Teaching.” Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung introduced the framework for implementing AI training at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, based on humanistic and digital citizenship thinking, comprising the following pillars: understanding AI & data; ethics - responsibility; human-centered approach; using AI in the workplace; evaluating AI products; and the capacity to design and develop AI systems at an appropriate level. This model includes components for training lecturers in AI literacy, strategies for designing and evaluating lectures, support for international research and publications, and participation in policy consultation at both national and institutional levels.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Hung presented his paper at the Conference.
Specifically, within the DS2S project, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is currently developing the FDP4 - AI for Teaching and Research course, a pioneering micro-credential program for university lecturers. The course consists of four modules: (1) Overview and effective AI application; (2) AI application in teaching; (3) AI application in research; and (4) Responsible and ethical use of AI in education. The content covers the entire academic cycle - from designing digital lectures, building multimedia learning materials, organizing activities and evaluation with AI, to using AI in research phases such as problem identification, data analysis, writing and publishing scientific papers. The highlight of the course is the practical project, where lecturers implement a teaching or research initiative integrating AI and are evaluated to receive the “AI-Competent Lecturer” certificate. The program will be implemented by VNU-USSH not only in Vietnam but also introduced to India, Bangladesh, and Germany within the framework of DS2S, contributing to affirming the university's pioneering role in the digital transformation of higher education.
The model for applying AI in teaching was introduced by VNU-USSH at the conference.
Alongside the presentations, the conference also organized numerous experiential workshops such as developing OER using LiaScript combined with AI, designing gamified learning materials based on design thinking, and leveraging AI-generated tools in classroom management and LMS systems. These activities helped instructors access modern digital pedagogical methods, aiming for engaging, effective, and humane learning experiences.
