This is an important part of the 2025 Vietnamese Language Teaching Training Course for Vietnamese Teachers Abroad organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which the Faculty of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities is professionally responsible.
On August 25, 2025, 80 overseas Vietnamese teachers from 15 countries and territories had a meaningful journey when they came to practice and gain practical experience at the Faculty of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The internship helped the teachers directly access the Vietnamese language teaching environment in their home country.
At the Faculty headquarters at 75 Tran Dai Nghia, teachers were introduced to the Faculty's more than 60-year history in the mission of teaching Vietnamese to foreigners and overseas Vietnamese. At the same time, they were also directly introduced to the work of spreading Vietnamese in the country where they are living. The professional exchanges helped overseas teachers better understand the situation of preserving Vietnamese language and culture in many countries around the world.
The highlight of the internship is that overseas Vietnamese teachers directly participate in teaching Vietnamese to foreigners in classes of different sizes. From Vietnamese language classes under the agreement system with 10-15 students, to short-term classes with only 1-5 students, each experience brings valuable practical lessons.
Witnessing and practicing in such a professional environment has helped overseas teachers gain a lot of practical experience. They have the opportunity to access diverse sources of language, learn how to organize classes and pedagogical methods from the Faculty's lecturers.
This is not only an internship trip, but also an opportunity for those far from home to connect with the roots of national culture, to "breathe" the air of modern Vietnamese language teaching. These valuable experiences will be the luggage to help them continue their noble mission: to preserve and spread Vietnamese language and culture to all over the world. Returning to Vietnam on the occasion of the great celebration of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, immersing themselves in the heroic atmosphere of the capital Hanoi, witnessing the remarkable development of the country, each overseas teacher has many special emotions as well as pride in the Vietnamese language and the Vietnamese people.
