This is an important part of the 2025 Vietnamese Language Teaching Training Course for Vietnamese Teachers Abroad, organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the Faculty of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, responsible for the professional aspects.
On August 25, 2025, 80 overseas Vietnamese teachers from 15 countries and territories embarked on a meaningful journey to intern and gain practical experience at the Department of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The internship allowed the teachers to directly experience the Vietnamese language teaching environment in their homeland.
At the Faculty's headquarters at 75 Tran Dai Nghia Street, teachers were introduced to the Faculty's more than 60-year history in its mission of teaching Vietnamese to foreigners and Vietnamese people living abroad. They also received a direct presentation on the work of promoting the Vietnamese language in their respective countries. These professional exchanges helped the overseas teachers better understand the situation regarding the preservation of the Vietnamese language and culture in many countries around the world.
The highlight of the internship was that overseas Vietnamese teachers were able to directly participate in teaching Vietnamese to foreigners in classes of varying sizes. From Vietnamese language classes under the agreement with 10-15 students to short-term classes with only 1-5 students, each experience provided valuable practical lessons.
Being able to witness and practice firsthand in such a professional environment has helped overseas Vietnamese teachers gain a wealth of practical experience. They have the opportunity to access diverse linguistic resources, learn classroom organization, and pedagogical methods from faculty members of the Department.
This is not just an internship trip, but also an opportunity for those living far from home to connect with their national cultural roots and "breathe" the atmosphere of modern Vietnamese language teaching. These valuable experiences will serve as a foundation for them to continue their noble mission: preserving and spreading the Vietnamese language and culture throughout the world. Returning to Vietnam during the grand celebration of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of Hanoi, and witnessing the remarkable development of the country, each overseas Vietnamese teacher has many special emotions and a deep sense of pride in the Vietnamese language and the Vietnamese nation.
