
Completed 6 key components that will lead the international Vietnamese language training system.
From 2012 to 2020, the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, completed six projects that are leading the way in the international training system for the Vietnamese language.
The first,Successfully compiled the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners, applicable nationwide and in many countries (Decision No. 17/2015/TT-BGDĐT, dated September 1, 2015).
Monday,Successfully compiled the format for the Vietnamese language proficiency assessment test based on the Vietnamese language proficiency framework for foreigners, applicable nationwide and in many countries (Decision No. 2097/QD-BGDĐT promulgating the test format and Decision No. 2098/QD-BGDĐT approving the guidance document for constructing and grading tests according to the Vietnamese language proficiency assessment test format for foreigners, dated June 21, 2016).
Tuesday,To systematically and professionally compile a training program for Vietnamese language teachers for foreigners.
Wednesday,Training Vietnamese language teachers for overseas Vietnamese for the Government (over 10 courses with thousands of teachers from many countries around the world, conducted both in-person and online) and effectively meeting the demand for training Vietnamese language teachers for overseas Vietnamese in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 36 of the Politburo.

Friday,Successfully compiled the Vietnamese language teaching curriculum framework for Vietnamese people abroad based on the Vietnamese language proficiency framework for foreigners (part of the project "Improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning Vietnamese for Vietnamese people abroad," Decision No. 14/QD-TTg, dated January 6, 2017).
From 2020 to the present, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has developed a systematic and decisive investment strategy for its political mission regarding overseas Vietnamese affairs.
Accordingly, the plan aims to promote the concretization of Vietnamese language teaching activities for overseas Vietnamese communities through a series of projects: "Strengthening Vietnamese Language Teaching for Overseas Vietnamese" (from 2020) and "Vietnamese Language Teaching Channels for Overseas Vietnamese" (from 2022), with a total budget of 12 billion VND for both projects, funded entirely by Hanoi National University.
In line with the international and humanitarian research, compilation, and training objectives of the Director of Hanoi National University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized a specialized group and completed all 19 components of the sub-project, including a corpus of materials serving the digital transformation of Vietnamese language teaching for overseas Vietnamese across five continents.
This is the most comprehensive corpus ever created, compiled by the most experienced team of experts from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, covering the Vietnamese language and culture ecosystem. It serves overseas Vietnamese communities with a range of learning materials based on the 6-level Vietnamese language proficiency framework, assessment materials, teaching guides, pronunciation correction materials, and practical professional resources suitable for the communication, business, tourism, and academic needs of overseas Vietnamese of all ages.
Overseas Vietnamese can access Vietnamese language lessons and practice at a higher level.
On September 8, 2022, the Project Management Board of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities launched a Vietnamese language teaching channel for overseas Vietnamese during the launching ceremony of the Day of Honoring the Vietnamese Language in the Overseas Vietnamese Community (at the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
The source materials for teaching elementary Vietnamese to the Channel belong to the Project's system, operating on the platform of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Since 2022, the online beginner Vietnamese language course for overseas Vietnamese has served hundreds of diverse learners from 17 countries and territories: China, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, France, the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Greece, and Cambodia.
This is a multicultural, multinational online course, offered free of charge to overseas Vietnamese communities, contributing to breakthrough achievements in people-to-people diplomacy as well as fulfilling the national mission of Hanoi National University.
By 2024, this teaching channel is expected to become a central hub for overseas Vietnamese in improving their intermediate-level Vietnamese language skills, providing a crucial language foundation for those wishing to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Vietnam.
Overseas learners can access Vietnamese language lessons and practice at a higher level, along with a valuable ecosystem of reference materials to promote self-learning and self-training among Vietnamese people abroad, especially the younger generation born and raised overseas.
