The University of Social Sciences and Humanities received and held a working meeting with representatives from the Sri Lankan Embassy.

On February 23, 2023, a meeting and exchange took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities between representatives of the University's Board of Directors and a delegation from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Vietnam.
Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. A. SAJ U. MENDIS (Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam), and Mr. Mahesh Premathilake (Minister of State, Embassy of Sri Lanka).
Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Rector), and leaders from the Department of Cooperation and Development, Training, Scientific Research Management, the Faculty of International Studies, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, and the Department of Southeast Asian Studies.

In his welcoming remarks, Vice Rector Dao Thanh Truong shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a multidisciplinary training institution with more than 17 faculties, offering full-time and part-time programs at all levels from bachelor's to doctoral degrees. In the current trend of global integration, the University hopes to cooperate and share resources with many universities and educational organizations from Sri Lanka in the fields of training and scientific research. He also expressed his desire to organize summer courses to welcome international students from Sri Lanka and other countries to learn about Vietnamese history and culture.

Professor A. SAJ U. MENDIS, representing the Sri Lankan Embassy, ​​expressed admiration for the Vietnamese people in many aspects, such as their long-standing history and traditions, their diverse and rich culture, and especially their remarkable economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, which he called ""The miracle of the Mekong River region"With the Government's open foreign policy, opportunities for expanding international cooperation, especially in the field of education, are endless. The Embassy is ready to facilitate close cooperation between universities in Sri Lanka and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - a leading and prestigious training institution in Vietnam in the field of social sciences and humanities. As a visiting professor at Harvard University, Professor A. SAJ U. Mendis also expressed his desire to have the opportunity to lecture and share his knowledge of international relations with the students of the University.

At the end of the meeting, Vice Rector Dao Thanh Truong expressed his gratitude to Professor A. SAJ U. MENDIS and the Sri Lankan Embassy; and also expressed his hope that the two sides would soon sign a bilateral cooperation agreement to create more opportunities and scholarships for students from Vietnam and Sri Lanka, as well as to coordinate the organization of scientific research activities at the regional and international levels.
