On September 14, 2023, a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) led by Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice President, together with Dr. Pham Hoang Hung, Head of the Department of Development Cooperation, Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Cam Lan, Head of the Department of Linguistics, Dr. Vu Minh Hai, lecturer of the Department of Linguistics, visited and worked at Guangxi University (China) to discuss opportunities and cooperation plans between the two schools.
Welcoming the delegation, on the side of Guangxi University, there was Professor Xiao Jian Zhuang, Vice President of Guangxi University, along with representatives of the leadership of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Journalism and Communication, Marxist Academy, International Academy, Foreign Language Academy...
Prof. Xiao Jian Zhuang expressed his joy at welcoming the delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and emphasized that Guangxi and Vietnam have many similarities in terms of geography, humanities, and increasingly convenient means of transportation. He also expressed his hope that the two schools could strengthen cooperation and academic exchanges in the future.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong congratulated the outstanding results that Guangxi University has achieved after 95 years of construction and development. At the same time, she shared the achievements that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved in recent years, proposed and exchanged, discussed cooperation contents in training, scientific research, exchange of lecturers and students, sharing of learning resources, searching and granting scholarships for students and trainees of the two schools, as well as expanding cooperation opportunities for mutual development.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong and Professor Xiao Jian Zhuang, representing the leaders of the two schools, agreed to sign an Academic Exchange Cooperation Agreement with the following contents: Agree to exchange students and trainees; send specialists and administrative staff to the partner school for professional exchange. Agree to exchange academic research resources, resources for education and training, and research and publish joint publications. The two sides will participate in research cooperation activities, and coordinate the organization of international scientific forums and seminars, as well as jointly register scientific research topics. At the same time, the two sides will jointly implement short-term cultural and academic exchange activities.
Every year, Guangxi University will send dozens of Vietnamese language students to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for 1 academic year, and at the same time, increase student exchanges to participate in short-term Summer Courses organized by the two schools. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to accept students from Guangxi University for postgraduate studies, and at the same time, send lecturers specializing in Vietnamese language to teach at Guangxi University. The two schools will seek joint research projects, coordinate the organization of seminars, and invite partner schools to participate in international seminars organized by the two schools.
In addition to strengthening cooperation in the field of Vietnamese language teaching and research, the two schools will promote teaching and research activities in Chinese studies, research and develop a 2+2 training program in Journalism and Communication, and coordinate the organization of research programs on Marxist Philosophy.
Guangxi University, founded in 1928, is one of China's 100 key public universities under Project 211 and is the oldest and largest university in Guangxi Province. Guangxi University is located on a campus of more than 310 hectares, with a massive library that has a total collection of more than 7.5 million books. The school offers 58 doctoral programs, 211 master's programs, and 98 undergraduate programs.
Guangxi University has been one of the universities that has accepted international students since the early 1960s, and currently, it accepts more than 2,000 international students each year. Guangxi University is committed to creating conditions for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to access and apply for Chinese Government Scholarships, Confucius Institute Scholarships, and Guangxi Government Scholarships for international students from ASEAN countries to study at Guangxi University.
