The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan – Rector of the university, representatives from the functional departments, representatives from the faculties of Literature, History, Oriental Studies and the Center for Chinese Studies; staff and lecturers who have studied, taught, or conducted research in China, and Chinese students and researchers who have studied at VNU-USSH.
Representing the Chinese Embassy were Mr. Zheng Dawei – Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Wang Dingguan, Mr. Huang Huaxian, and Mr. Yang Ye – reporters from the People's Daily of China.
The session began with traditional and lyrical songs performed by the SOL club.

During the meeting, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed that international integration is a strong trend for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-USSH. With the mission of leading in training high-quality, highly skilled human resources; researching, creating, and disseminating knowledge in the field of social sciences and humanities, the University always prioritizes strengthening cooperation with international educational and research organizations and reputable scientists worldwide. Universities and research institutes in China are important partners of the University in training and scientific research, student and faculty exchange, international publications, and conference organization. In particular, Chinese students, trainees, and doctoral candidates studying at VNU-USSH at various levels, from bachelor's to master's and doctoral degrees, have been provided with the best possible conditions for learning, healthcare, and cultural exchange in Vietnam.
The fact that the University sent Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong – Vice Rector – to visit and work with universities and research institutions in Guangxi, China, and Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh – Vice Rector – to visit and work with universities in Yunnan Province, affirms the University's efforts and goodwill in restarting cooperation programs and increasing friendship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Chinese universities after the post-Covid-19 recovery period. Leading up to the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-China relations, the attention and support from the Chinese Embassy to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is extremely important and valuable. This will help VNU – USSH further expand cooperative relations with many Chinese educational institutions, jointly promoting educational cooperation between educational institutions to a new level.
Educational cooperation aims to strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and China.
Mr. Trinh Dai Vi, Education Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, emphasized the importance of educational development, particularly the urgent need for training in social sciences and humanities. Promoting educational cooperation will not only strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and China, but also serve as a bridge for cultural exchange between the two countries. Therefore, as a pioneering institution in training in social sciences, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-USSH) plays a special role and always receives special attention from the Chinese Embassy. As a bridge between the two countries, the Chinese Embassy will support and create favorable conditions for VNU-USSH to connect and expand cooperation with many major universities in China, as well as promote research cooperation between the university and major research institutions there.

Thanking the Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy for his sincere sentiments, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has had and continues to have effective cooperation with universities in East and West China, and recently with Xiamen University. In the future, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan hopes that with strong support from the Chinese Embassy, the cooperation framework between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Chinese universities can expand to the North and South, further enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between the two sides.
Associate Professor Trinh Cam Lan, Head of the Faculty of Linguistics, shared insights into the achievements of the collaboration between the Faculty and universities in China.
Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Cam Lan - Head of the Faculty of Linguistics shared: Currently, the Faculty of Linguistics is training more than 200 students from China. Creating the best conditions for Chinese students in particular, and international students in general, is a particularly important goal of the Faculty and the University. This not only helps them acquire knowledge and skills during their studies and research here, but also helps them have the most complete cultural experiences in Vietnam, thereby enhancing their knowledge and awareness of the beauty of Vietnamese culture and the importance of the Vietnamese language. In addition, the Faculty of Linguistics also has programs for postgraduate research and Vietnamese language teaching staff in China. Currently, the Faculty is training 8 doctoral students and 11 master's students from China. This is a significant contribution of the Faculty of Linguistics in strongly promoting cooperation between VNU - USSH and universities in China, contributing to enriching the good diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Furthermore, research collaboration is also a key aspect that the Faculty and the University pay special attention to. To date, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has collaborated five times on scientific publications with Guangxi University of Nationalities and held five international conferences with universities in China. Notably, from 2016 to 2018, the University also organized five international scientific conferences on "Vietnamese and Chinese Language and Culture". In 2024, the conference is expected to be held at the Faculty of Linguistics, promising many innovations in bilateral cooperation.
Dr. Pham Hoang Hung – Head of the Cooperation and Development Department emphasized: VNU – USSH always creates the best conditions for international students to come and study.
In the first semester of 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) welcomed 300 international students from 16 Chinese universities to study and conduct research at various levels, from undergraduate to doctoral. The university provided the best possible support to help them adapt quickly to their studies. In September, the university also held an enrollment and opening ceremony for Chinese students. The ceremony was attended by many faculty members from Chinese universities, demonstrating the special interest of Chinese partners in VNU-USSH. Accordingly, during its visits to 20 educational institutions in Yunnan and Guangxi provinces of China, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities hopes to re-establish cooperative relationships and express its sincere commitment to its partners. With the development of transportation and the favorable cooperation between the School and its Chinese partners, it is expected that in 2024, cooperative activities between the two sides will boom and yield practical results.

Mr. Hoang Hoa Hien, as a former student of the Faculty of Linguistics and former postgraduate student in Southeast Asian Studies, expressed his gratitude to the teachers and his joy at having the opportunity to visit the school.
Associate Professor Dang Hong Son – Deputy Head of the History Department, Director of the Museum of Anthropology – shared about the process of collaborative archaeological excavation with Chinese students at Jilin University, expanding excavations to both China and Vietnam.
Ms. Vuong Ke Cam, representing the group of Chinese graduate students in Vietnam, expressed her gratitude to the professors and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – a crucial link in her personal growth.
