This is a working session on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Rosa Luxemburg Institute and to pay tribute to Mr. Jörg Schultz - Head of the Asia Department, Center for International Dialogue and Cooperation of the Rosa Luxemburg Institute, Federal Republic of Germany. In 2021, he and his German and Vietnamese colleagues proposed cooperation activities with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, with the first collaborative research project with the English transaction name Vietnam-Rosa Luxemburg Project on Policies Studies implemented by the Institute of Policy and Management. One of the important objectives of the project is to support activities to improve the capacity of policy analysis, planning and evaluation for provincial and grassroots policy makers.
Since 2002, the Rosa Luxemburg Institute has supported and coordinated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to implement nearly 20 projects on the components of "Left-wing theoretical options in a changing world", "Innovation of educational policies in Vietnam", "Enhancing the capacity of lecturers", "Socio-ecological transformation"...
Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong affirmed that Rosa Luxemburg Institute is one of the strategic partners of the school and expressed his joy and gratitude to Mr. Jörg Schultz - one of the founders of the more than 20-year cooperation between Rosa Luxemburg Institute and the Institute of Policy and Management, USSH. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong also sent special thanks to the Director of the RLS Representative Office in Southeast Asia, Mr. Philip Degenhardt, for supporting and proposing many effective cooperation activities between the two units in the past time and hopes to continue to receive his personal attention so that the cooperation between the two sides will become deeper and more successful.
Along with the process of implementing and expanding cooperation areas for more than 20 years with the Rosa Luxemburg Institute, the Institute of Policy and Management has also continuously developed from a research program - a research center into a research institute, a key research center at VNU level. Most recently, in February 2021, the Institute of Policy and Management (IPAM) was honored in the Top 2020 Social Policy Think Tanks, ranked 108th and in the Top 2020 Best New Think Tanks of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) - University of Pennsylvania - USA. This is truly a distinct mark, a humane value that very few foreign NGOs in Vietnam or the RLS Foundation representative offices in other regions and countries can achieve as RLS Southeast Asia can. The RLS Southeast Asia Regional Fund has truly become a cradle for nurturing ideas and helping research organizations develop their potential, becoming centers of excellence in their own fields.
The meeting was also an opportunity for both sides to review the achievements and results of 20 years of cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Rosa Luxemburg Institute. Mr. Jörg Schultz also affirmed his trust in the expectations of long-term, sustainable cooperation in the future.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides exchanged gifts and took souvenir photos.
