University of Social Sciences and Humanities received Prof. Pierre Journoud, Paul Valéry University - Montpellier III, Republic of France

On August 1, 2022, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) chaired a meeting with Prof. Pierre Journoud (Professor of Contemporary History at Paul Valéry-Montpellier III University, France). Also attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hanh (Diplomatic Academy - Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Thuy (Deputy Head of the Department of History), MSc. Nguyen Minh Nguyet (Deputy Head of the Department of Cooperation and Development) of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The meeting focused on discussing the organization of scientific activities in preparation for the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - France diplomatic relations.

The relationship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Paul Valéry University - Montpellier III has a history of more than 20 years since the official signing of the cooperation document in 2002. In all aspects of cooperation, from research activities in history, ethnology, anthropology, archaeology, etc., the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has always proven to be a reliable partner of Paul Valéry University - Montpellier III. In particular, in 2014, the two universities successfully coordinated to organize the workshop "From Dien Bien Phu to the Geneva Agreement: from an international perspective" within the framework of activities on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory"as well as a host of other significant scientific events.

At the reception, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Principal of the school) thanked Paul Valéry-Montpellier III University for its continuous and practical support over the past two decades and affirmed: The cooperation between Paul Valéry-Montpellier III University and the school has certainly contributed positively to improving the capacity of researchers in the field of history and many other social sciences.

Prof. Pierre Journoud congratulated the achievements of the University in recent times and highly appreciated the role of close cooperation between the two universities, which has greatly contributed to strengthening the friendly diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France. Prof. Pierre Journoud also affirmed: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is one of the leading training and research units in Vietnam in the fields of social sciences and humanities, including history, culture, anthropology, archaeology - areas that Paul Valéry-Montpellier III University is very interested in and has strengths in. Therefore, the room for cooperation between the two universities is very large.

The two sides also affirmed their determination to strengthen the strategic partnership towards the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France. Specifically, in 2023, the two schools will coordinate to organize an international conference with published proceedings to discuss many aspects of the 50th anniversary of relations between the two countries with the participation of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the French Embassy in Vietnam, and the Francophone University Agency. In addition, the two schools will continue to extend and sign new cooperation documents and appendices to serve as a basis for enhancing joint training activities in the fields of student exchange and scientific research. Specifically, Paul Valéry-Montpellier III University will send students to study for 1-2 semesters at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, as well as lecturer exchange programs and other joint research projects in the fields of history, culture, etc.
