Establishing a space for effective and sustainable connection and cooperation between training units and businesses

On the morning of March 10, 2022, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Principal of the School) chaired a working session with a delegation of the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises led by Mr. Mac Quoc Anh (Party Secretary, Vice President and General Secretary of the Association; Vice President of the Anti-Counterfeiting Fund; Director of the Institute of Economics and Enterprise Development).

Attending the meeting, on the School's side, in addition to Vice Principal Dao Thanh Truong, there were also heads of departments and affiliated units: High School for Social Sciences and Humanities, Department of Cooperation and Development, Department of Administration - Synthesis, Department of Training.

On the side of the Business Association, in addition to Mr. Mac Quoc Anh, there were also representatives of the Anti-Counterfeiting Fund, the Anti-Counterfeiting Technical Institute; Anti-Counterfeiting Technical Magazine; Center for Management and Promotion of Corporate Customers; Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB); Saigon - Hanoi Insurance Joint Stock Company, KingsMan Academy of Strategy and Human Resources; Minh Tien Berest Group Joint Stock Company.

Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Principal of the school) sent his best wishes to the delegates representing the businesses attending the meeting on the occasion of the Year of the Tiger and assessed this as a "strange encounter" between Hanoi National University in general, as well as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, and businesses in Hanoi; hoping that the meeting would be a "push" for the cooperation to be more extensive and effective.

At the beginning of the working session, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong gave an overview of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and emphasized: linking training programs with practice, strengthening the connection between training activities and businesses and employers is a key task that the Board of Directors pays great attention to. According to the Vice Principal: “In recent years, the University has focused on adjusting training content to meet the needs of the labor market for high-quality human resources. However, the cooperation between the University and businesses is not really diverse. Therefore, we really hope that in the coming time, we will expand cooperation with businesses in the following activities: supporting lecturers and students in research, teaching, internships, and practice; recruiting graduates; supporting students affected by the epidemic; organizing seminars related to career guidance for students, specialized seminars, forums related to financial and economic policy advice, building scholarship funds for scientific research; building smart school models, converting the functions of buildings and services for the school, etc.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam (Head of Training Department) provided more information about regular training programs from bachelor to doctorate, part-time training, short-term training to grant vocational certificates of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. On that basis, the School can provide businesses with excellent students, high-quality human resources, and provide skills training services for staff of the units.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Principal of the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities) expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation between the School and businesses, partly to help students have a practical internship environment, and have the opportunity to find the best job with their expertise; as well as to help businesses recruit personnel with good expertise and proficient skills.

MSc. Nguyen Van Thuy (Head of Administration - General Department), MSc. Luong Ngoc Vinh (Deputy Head in charge of Cooperation and Development) also shared their hope that in the coming time, businesses will cooperate and support to improve the quality of the School's facilities and equipment in the direction of modernization; at the same time, diversify the School's cooperation and foreign relations.

Mr. Mac Quoc Anh, on behalf of the Association's Board of Directors, shared: The Association currently has about 318,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in Hanoi, participating in all economic, cultural and social fields of the capital and the country. Therefore, enterprises in the Association are ready to cooperate with the University in all areas of activity: supporting 0-dong supermarkets; supporting student internships; recruiting graduates; scientific research; upgrading and renovating facilities; as well as other activities: supporting students, starting businesses, awarding scholarships, transferring research of lecturers and students of the University, etc.

Mr. Dang Duy Phu (Representative of SHB Bank) shared: SHB is ready to organize experience sharing and career guidance sessions to support students; support internships and surveys for lecturers and students; provide the best financial services at the lowest cost: card issuance, salary payment, financial services: account management, preferential programs, free of charge; tuition collection solutions, loan and credit supply packages. In addition, SHB has preferential capital programs in construction and renovation projects of the School's facilities.

Mr. Nguyen Van Truong (Representative of SG-HN Insurance Company) said: The company has strengths in providing insurance solutions, student internship locations, and lecturer surveys not only in Hanoi but also in other provinces across the country; training more skills, helping students access a variety of professions, and at the same time being able to participate in the strategy of distributing insurance products to other partners. At the same time, the company is also willing to participate in other programs that the School needs through the association.

The representative of Minh Tien Group presented the circular economic model of the unit's coffee products and also informed that the member units of the Group warmly welcome students to come for internships and then work.

Mr. Hoang Trung Dung (Chairman of Kingsman Academy of Strategy and Human Resources) shared: The Academy's strength is providing training programs on business administration. Established over 10 years ago, Kingsman has had a cooperative relationship and trained personnel for most of the large economic groups in Vietnam. Therefore, it is completely possible to cooperate with the School in receiving interns, receiving employees, providing training courses on management skills and business development, start-ups.

On behalf of the Association and the participating businesses, Mr. Mac Quoc Anh concluded some general contents: after this working session, the two sides will have a cooperation framework between businesses belonging to the Association and the School, as well as a specific program in 2022 and other years. Periodically, every 3 to 6 months, a summary will be held to evaluate the activities.

Concluding the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong expressed his deep gratitude to the Association's Board of Directors and the leaders of the Enterprises for their attention and favor to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. It can be said that the cooperation space between the two sides is very large in all areas: training, facilities, scientific research, human resource management, insurance, credit, etc. Therefore, after today's meeting, the two sides will sign a general cooperation framework agreement, then develop specific cooperation programs for each year. The school will assign focal points to ensure regular and effective connections. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong emphasized: “It can be said that today's working session is very important, opening a period of closer, deeper and more effective cooperation between the School and businesses in the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises; contributing to improving the training quality of the School, while helping businesses to train and recruit good professional staff with full skills to supplement their staff.”
