These results were published on October 10, 2022. The authors of this publication are still the Metrics group of Professor John P.A. Ioannidis and his colleagues at Stanford University in the United States, who researched and published their findings in the American journal PLoS Biology. Accordingly, the authors used the Scopus database from 1960 to September 1, 2022, containing data on over 7 million scientists and filtered out the group of 100,000 most influential individuals.

As in previous years, the study did not change its measurement and evaluation tools, as the research team updated the database of over 100,000 most cited scientists (from the Scopus database) and ranked them based on key criteria such as: scientific impact score (composite score); total citations (excluding self-citations); Hirsch h-index; Schreiber hm-index; citations for articles published as a single author; citations for articles as the main author (first author and corresponding author), and last author.
Scientists are divided into 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields (disciplines/specializations).
According to the latest rankings published on October 10, 2022, among Vietnamese scientists working full-time in the country, two scientists are ranked in the top 10,000 worldwide, and 34 scientists are ranked in the top 100,000 most influential scientists in 2022.
