With the aim of raising awareness among young people and students about Internet governance and encouraging the younger generation to actively participate in building a healthy digital space, on September 24th and 25th, 2022, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, co-organized the Youth Internet Governance Forum (YIGF) Vietnam 2022. The event was attended by over 100 youth ambassadors and revolved around related topics such as e-commerce, cybersecurity and responsibility, data governance, and the Internet of Things.
The Youth Internet Governance Forum initiative was launched by NetMission in 2010, inspired by the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), an international event held annually since 2006 that features discussions involving stakeholders including governments, businesses, research institutions, civil society organizations, and community representatives on various aspects of internet governance from different perspectives. Based on this multi-stakeholder approach, Vietnet Information and Communication Technology Center (Vietnet-ICT) successfully launched YIGF Vietnam in 2019, since then organizing this forum as an annual event attracting young people to learn about internet governance and contribute their voices to discussions related to this topic.
2021 marked the first collaboration between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Vietnet ICT in organizing the Vietnam Youth Internet Governance Forum in a hybrid format (in-person and online), with the participation of nearly 150 delegates including youth ambassadors, government agencies, technology companies, community organizations, experts, and researchers in the field of Internet governance.
For the second time co-organizing YIGF Vietnam, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Vietnet ICT welcomed over 150 delegates, including more than 100 outstanding young students studying across the country, selected from over 800 applications. In addition, the event also featured an advisory board from community organizations, lecturers, and experts in cybersecurity and data protection.

Speaking at the opening session, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) emphasized the influence and reach of the Internet Governance Youth Forum initiative in Vietnam and expressed his hope that the collaboration between the two sides would open up new opportunities for cooperation and research.

Within the framework of YIGF Vietnam 2022, the discussion sessions were organized in a multi-stakeholder format combined with group activities and collective activities, simulating the model of a global Internet governance forum with diverse topics such as: the development of technology and new initiatives, cybersecurity and the responsibilities of stakeholders, proposed solutions for policymakers, etc. In addition, guest speakers also brought interesting knowledge through talk shows on e-commerce and data governance.

With the core force being the USSH Digital Me Club under the University's Youth Union, students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities participated in the program's Organizing Committee as well as ambassador groups, role-playing as government agencies, businesses, researchers, community organizations, and internet users to engage in lively and active discussions in simulated working sessions. In addition, faculty members from the University also served as advisors for the forum, contributing to the success of the discussions.

The discussions and feedback were recorded and compiled into the contributions of the Youth Ambassadors of the Vietnam Internet Governance Forum 2022, and are expected to be submitted to relevant management agencies.
