Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong – Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered the opening speech.
Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expressed his sincere gratitude to Professor Sarah Turner for taking the time to share her knowledge and skills in writing research proposals with the university's staff. As a leading training and research institution in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, the university always aims to improve the quality of training and scientific research of its faculty and staff. The Vice Rector believes that Professor Sarah Turner's presentation will provide new perspectives and experiences on how to write a practical and persuasive research proposal.

Professor Sarah Turner shared at the training session: Designing research objectives and questions is one of the fundamental skills in scientific research. However, currently, many training and research institutions around the world still have proposals that are not written appropriately and do not meet international standards. The training session delved into addressing each problem in research, specifically:
- How to write research questions and research objectives that meet international standards.
- A guide to formulating concise and impactful research questions that still capture the reader's attention.
- Differentiate and provide guidance on how to write international standard conceptual frameworks and theoretical foundations.
- Enhanced understanding of research methods
The instructors attending the training session had the opportunity to exchange ideas directly, practice, and receive on-the-spot feedback and corrections from Professor Sarah Turner.

Previously, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had collaborated on numerous projects with the PHER project and achieved significant success in building a research support center model with functions such as supporting the implementation of research projects, establishing a unit equivalent to an Ethics Committee, and providing training to enhance the capacity of researchers…
PHER ProjectThis project, part of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Higher Education Development Support Program, is a five-year initiative from 2022 to 2026 aimed at enhancing the capacity of three key Vietnamese higher education institutions (Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; and Da Nang University) to develop sustainably and more autonomously in the areas of governance, training, research, and business connectivity, meeting the human resource needs for Vietnam's industrialization, modernization, and international integration. The project is funded by USAID through a non-refundable technical assistance grant and implemented by Indiana University, USA.
