At the conference, Associate Professor Pham Hong Long focused on analyzing the role of the community in destination development, while emphasizing that the quality of the visitor experience is formed from a combination of many factors. Besides resources, landscapes, and infrastructure, the quality of service, the tourism environment, and the capacity of the service staff are crucial in creating the image and attractiveness of a destination.
From a research and training perspective, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Hong Long provides students with knowledge about sustainable community tourism, tourist psychology, and the development of experiential products, while linking professional content with practical activities at the Vietnam Ethnic Groups Cultural and Tourism Village. One of the key points emphasized is the need to develop a comprehensive and integrated tourism experience. Services ranging from food and accommodation to transportation, entertainment, and safety need to be connected into a unified chain, meeting the needs of tourists and contributing to increasing the value of community-based tourism products.
Besides knowledge about product development, Associate Professor Pham Hong Long dedicated time to discussing civilized behavior in tourism activities. Principles of friendly attitude, open communication, listening, respecting personal space, and proactively building rapport with tourists were concretized through practical situations. These are essential skills that contribute to building a professional, friendly, and distinctive image for the destination.
