The workshop is part of the research project KX.02.29/21-25 under the National Special Science and Technology Program for the period 2021-2025: “Research, application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the construction and defense of the country during the đổi mới (renovation) period (from 1986 to the present, orientation to 2030 and vision to 2045)” led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The workshop was attended by the project team, project members, and a large number of scientists from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, universities and research institutes in Hanoi, as well as postgraduate students, trainees, and undergraduates studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
In his opening remarks at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh emphasized the main objectives and themes of the presentations, which would focus on: analyzing and evaluating the current situation, achievements, limitations, causes, issues, and lessons learned in the research, application, and development of Ho Chi Minh's thought on innovation, science, technology, and engineering from 1986 to the present. The workshop serves as a scientific forum for managers and stakeholders to share knowledge, provide information to the lead agency and project leaders in implementing the projects, and publish research results on issues related to the workshop's theme. The workshop organizers received more than 20 meticulously prepared, serious, and highly valuable scientific papers from experts and researchers.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh (Project Leader) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh (Deputy Project Leader) chaired the workshop.
With 12 presentations and several exchanges and discussions at the conference, delegates focused on clarifying the current state, achievements, and limitations in the study of Ho Chi Minh's thought on the development of science and technology and innovation. Based on this, they drew some lessons learned and proposed solutions: a comprehensive and systematic study of Ho Chi Minh's thought on the development of science and technology is needed, and it must be considered in relation to his entire ideological system.
Regarding the current state of applying and developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of science, technology, and innovation, the reports deeply analyze several aspects: formulating policies, guidelines, laws, building human resources, establishing development models, mobilizing resources, national governance, international relations, and creating conditions for the development of science, technology, and innovation during the period of reform from 1986 to the present. The reports pointed out limitations in current policies and practices for the development of science, technology, and innovation, and proposed solutions based on the creative application of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the current context. They particularly emphasized the need for breakthrough policies in investing in human resources and valuing talent – a key factor determining the success of any development strategy.

Associate Professor Cao Xuan Long (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) presented a report (online): “The domestic and international situation, and the requirements for researching, applying, and developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of science and technology and innovation from 1986 to the present.”
Dr. Tran Thi Phuc An (Mining and Geology University) presented a paper entitled: "The current state of research on Ho Chi Minh's thought related to the development of science and technology and innovation from 1986 to the present."
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Chieu (VNU-USSH): “The current state of applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in building human resources for science and technology development and innovation during the Doi Moi (Renovation) period, from 1986 to the present.”
Dr. Duong Tat Thanh (VNU-USSH): “The current state of applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in mobilizing resources for science and technology development and innovation during the Doi Moi (Renovation) period, from 1986 to the present.”
Dr. Tran Diep Thanh (Interdisciplinary School of Science and Arts - VNU) presented a paper entitled: "The current state of application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in policies and laws for the development of science and technology, innovation, and the period of reform, from 1986 to the present."
Dr. Dao Dinh Tuan (Political Academy of the Ministry of National Defense) presented a paper entitled: "Lessons learned in applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of science and technology, innovation, and the reform period, from 1986 to the present."
Concluding the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh, on behalf of the project's steering committee, thanked the scientists for their responsible and effective participation and for sharing valuable information and research results. Based on the suggestions from the scientists at today's workshop, the steering committee will carefully consider them to identify areas and issues that need further improvement and expansion of research.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh, in 2024, within the framework of research project KX.02.29/21-25, the project team will organize 3 workshops and 15 seminars. Following today's workshop, in mid-October, the project team will continue to organize a large-scale workshop attracting the participation of scientists, managers, organizations, and businesses at the central and local levels. The project leader also hopes to continue receiving attention, participation, and contributions from scientists.
